I got acquainted with Graham McAllister several years back as the very first person to join a Yahoo discussion group he had started. Thought I would share it, as an example of the bread-and-butter hull construction method. I still have the old book, I bought from the used book store. The following scans show the method and the lines I used. I scaled it down to 24" length. The boat was made out of 1" boards, so I guess that means they are 3/4" thick?
This pattern is a simple example of a lot of patterns for cutting aluminum or steel sheets that can be bent and joined by welding to construct frame-less hulls for small to medium size yachts with sails, engines or both. There is a Yahoo discussion group "origamiboats" and several websites for companies that manufacture yachts with frame-less metal hulls.
The second one was about the bread and butter method for using a series of lifts to construct hulls for model boats.
This post is to ask if any of the members who own Phlatprinters might be interested in manufacturing pop-pop boats made of waterproofed foam, instead of the...
With 112 working MKI and MKII Phlatprinters and additional BalsaBuddy machines on the way, Phlat forum could become headquarters for an international producer of RC model planes, boats and the like and not a moment too soon as far as I am concerned from the standpoint of a pop-pop boats fan. Several distributors of imported tinplate pop-pop boats have posted notices on their websites to the effect that their boats are not sold as children's toys because of issues with sharp edges...
