    Very nice Randy. With an area and an aspect ratio like that plus an AUW practically edging on the indoor micro side, that plane is gonna float for days. It may slow up enough to benefit from a lifting tail :cool: Built the same way of course ;) While your at it :eek: give it a Playboy-ish fuselage. :D Yah, that's the ticket :D Now get busy, your not building fast enough. :p

    66tbird, lols, i freely admit I'm a slow builder...man the way i stumble around my work table...installed the landing gear, from the manual all you get is its 1/16 dia. and a photo from the side, that's it....i just used my monkey imagination for the bottom bends. but they did show the rubberbands thou...well it fattened the fuse up to 4.2oz. from 3.6 but it will help when landing...was gonna do the prop saver o-ring thingy, but i hate them things...next up will be cuttin out some horns, and install some servos...peace, randy.

    And the AUW is???? btw what's the wing area? It sure looks good, I'd keep one for my calm air T&G session.

    fellas, Trish, got the servos installed....decided to cut a servo tray on the phlatty, just in case of a servo change...with lack of funds, i had to steal a AR-6000 full range from a nother model. all ready for flight with a 1320 thunderpower installed is 11.2oz. it came out fat, as i was shootin for under 10oz. i think the 1/8 thick balsa servo tray added more than i was countin on...also i wanted to show the wing and took the photos with sunlight...ready to go at 11.2oz. randy.

    bird, the auw is 11.2oz. as far as the wing area, monkeys don't know how to figure that, lols. the wing span is 42in. with a constant 7in. chord. i made the model from the great planes tudor from the manual at tower's. i suppose they might have the area, i donno, randy.

    span is 42in. with a constant 7in. chord auw is 11.2oz.

    42x7= 294 sqr-in.

    294/144= 2.05 sqr-ft

    11.2/2.05= 5.485 oz/sqr-ft wing loading. Which is well into the thermal machine area. Balance it well including laterally and she'll do T&G's off a picnic table with ease in calm air. Good job Randy, that's a setup I'd love to fly.

    Looks like there's room in the nose, try a 2S 800ma and you'll see <10oz auw with a <5 oz loading. Super light big-ish models do amazing things.

    bird, i think with the 42in. span clark-y, the extra ounce will not hurt...besides that the 1300mah will give my friend more time on the cord...i never went smaller than 3 cell....heck a 3 cell seems like nothin from a 4 cell, or a 6... if ya lived close bird, you would be more than welcome to fly this model. peace, randy.

    WOW randy that wing is a peice of Art....Plane is not bad either. :lol: No Seriously that is one Beautiful Plane. I love the translucent covering on the wing. :ugeek: Supercool. You Should Kit that one. The only Prob I see is it's not going to be fun In any wind. Hot wired wing will prob. help with that. Hay throw a 4 cell in there and she will scream through some wind. lol :D

    Cheers

    thanks glen....i can cut the fuse in about 5 mins., but the assembly of the wing is kinda time consuming...that's why i want to use the hotwire on it...i will be able to bang out a model in about 10 mins machine time...i have no interest in kitting them out unless i really have to....but i do plan on cutting for my friends...after i fly and prove it out, i will add the control horn lay-out locations to the program. also i will do the servo tray out of foam. also i used 6mm depron to make, and using 1/4 fanfold shouldn't be any troubles. i have to sent a couple out to new jersey for you, and mark, and Trish....heck you can do a bird dog scheme to it, lols. my big reason for making it lite, was so i could use the blue wonder set-up....as far as wind, it don't bother me, as i use it, make friends with it, love it..well you know, lols.randy.

    well fellas, flew from 8am to 4pm....tons of flights... the trainer went up before my friend got to the field, so no video, sorry. there was no real wind, the weather man said 5mph. the green trainer jumped off the ground in about 5 feet....it needed tons of right trim, actually i had to land fast, as i ran outta trim, and had to land with the stick almost all the right to keep straight. centered the trim, added some sub trim, and took off again. a few clicks and were good...the model tracks like a train, flies great. after i landed i was looking at the wing and noticed the left tip had more washout twisted in it. but it flew well. next was the stryker maiden...needed a bunch of up trim, but after trimmin it flew perfectly...not real fast, but its a respectable 70mph i would guess.. i am very sorry to report we did not get video...i took some field photos, then my friends and i got busy with our flying....between my 2 friends and me, id guess we had 30 flights today. we had a ball with out any incidences. the trainer, and the stryker lite, are both winners....what a lovely day for flying here in mi. randy.
