Shaun can you post the wing meeting the fuse section that you mentioned in the podcast for supersonic jets? I am curious about it.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Here ya go.
    http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/aerodynamics/q0104.shtml
It's an interesting article, and something I am still baffled that it works.
It's funny because in the Crashcast back a few weeks ago, Crash and Dorsal were talking about the Speedy and Dorsal brought this same thing up. Little did he know I had already planned on doing this. I'm pretty sure the principle should work for our models. Drag is drag no matter what scale.

By the way here is my latest video of the Speedy going 138.8 mph.
The new design should smoke this one.

Yeah I thought I was gonna have the new design done by now. Sometimes I take breaks from projects and get back to them. See there are these really great people who brought this really cool machine into my life and now I just keep brainstorming and creating more and more things from my ideas :D .

Here is a pic of how far along I am. It's really close.

Shawn I'm gonna build a racer over the winter.
I joined a field that flies primary gas and I want to show what electrics can do.
I don't think I'm going to do this for the contest, but I'm thinking a WWII classic painted in racer colors, with a similar setup as yours. Maybe a thunderbolt or FW190?

So far I've got a 60A ESC and BEC
    2 sets of 4S A123 setups (1100 & 2300amh)

    I gather I'll need a 3000Kv motor?
What size prop are you running?
(I may end up w/ one of your Speedys (or speedy II) as well here.

    Cool Erik.
    When I was running the 3000kv motor on a 3s lipo I had a 4.5 x 4.5 prop on it going 91 mph.
    When I went to the 4s lipo I put a 4.1 x 4.1 prop on it to get 120mph.
Looking forward to see what you build.

That's looks like a good motor for going fast but it would be to big for the speedy.

Thanks for that little nudge this morning Mark.
I decided to finish this to hopefully fly tomorrow.
The yellow is not gonna be the final color it was the only base coat plastic paint I had left. I think I'm gonna go back to the florescent orange so I can see it good.
Here are a few pics of where I'm at now.

    Before base coat

Base coat drying as I type.

    Finally finished painting.
I originally wanted to do a better paint job, but now I just want to get it flying.
I sure hope this one puts me over the top. Attached files [IMG]

    Thanks guys!
Randy it's 1 3/4" diameter. I'm realizing now that not as much prop is biting so I might have to go up a little in prop size. I have multiple props balanced and ready to go. I'm about to head out now to get the maiden flight in.

If that flys as fast as it looks then I think the record's in the bag Shaun  .

Good luck with the maiden dude, fingers crossed that you can hit that magic 140mph mark.

Sweeeeeet and clean. Fingers crossed. I'm confident it will do it if the battery is there. I'll guess 148-155 using a 4pitch on 4C 4000kv. Which btw is 200 unload ;)

Well guys the ole thinker wasn't working right today.
I had a brain fart and reversed the aileron  DOH.
It took off really nice and started to roll, I tried to correct it but it just rolled inverted and nosed right into the ground. Total bummer but hey I got a pp to cut another out. :D
This build was a pain but from all your guys remarks I really want to get this one done and into the air to beat that record. I think I'm gonna make a couple tweaks to help it go together a little easier this time. Attached files [IMG]
