mark, i wanted you to know that the tool slot on the top of printer is off location. before anyone tells me about glue and joint fit, they can save it......this slot i off location period. i will work around it, maybe adding a filler strip and relieving a lil on the other side. or just leaving alone, if ther is clearance. anyhow mark, i just wanted you to know about this so you can maybe fix for your future kits. peace, randy.

Wow! that is huge.. First of all thank you for the heads up.

Is there a way you could post some more pics of the whole top and some from under showing the Y/Z gantry? I need to find the reason this has happened.

Of all the PP 's I have built I have never had one come out like that, it could be that the top is off due to a slip in the cnc process.

Just a quick check would be that you should have aprox 6 1/8th" from the from of the PP to the slot. Let me know what you come up with please.

mark, its at 6.0in. so it dont look like a slip during machining. just so you know, i enlarged the 7/16 holes to 1/2 dia. no location was altered. also if you look at my mod posts, you will see i am using 1x1x.125 alluminum angle channel. ther is very little clearance between the channel and the gantry. i was thinking that the shafting holes could be located tward the back of the printer. if i was fixing i would just move the slot tward the front, to get dremel centered. any other measurements you want let me know. btw, everything is coming out better than i expected....one thing thou, im glad i have a machining background. its helping me out, lols. randy.

    Hay rjarois,

Looky here. I don't have 100% faith in my 3D model, but it does show the exact same demel misalignment:

Looks that way. I'm sure one of the mods cleared it out.
Mark; I used to run a PHPBB2 forum, and had the same problem as some idiots would manually register to post the crap. I started running the bad behavior plug-in and that cured 99.9% of that crap. It basically is an IP black list filter. I'm running 2 Joomla sites now using the Bad-Behavior plug in and knock on wood (or foam ;) ) not a single one of these in almost 2 years. I haven't looked at the PHPBB3 plugins, but I'm sure there is something out there for it.

Thanks for the tip I will look into it some more.

I did ban him with an IP ban, so he should not be back :)

    Thanks again guys

Randy - Your Dremel is offset farther than mine was, but I'd suggest you just put a 3/16" thick shim between the Dremel and the gantry, then re-tighten the u-bolts. I think we're going to see some variances, as long as we're working with wood to make the pp, and shimming the Dremel is an easy fix.

used a 3/32 shim under the dremel....put the cutter dead in the center of the slot...by doing this, the dremel is very, very, close to the x-axis roller. the clearence is very minimal, but it will work, man its tight, lols. any one that has to do this, make sure the clearance is ther before gluing shim on...man i just got luckey i suppose...randy.

Yeah Randy - There isn't a whole lot of clearance to start, and then adding a shim reduces it by that much more. OTOH, if you have .050" clearance remaining, there's tons of space!

Randy, I am still trying to find out where the error in your slot being off so far could be. But as you know it only takes one part to be a little off in the machining process that could have caused this and that one would be a hard one to catch.
Thank you for being so gracious and understanding and for working around this problem with a good attitude at heart. We do the best we can at assuring a great product before it goes out the door, but this one is a tough one to find ahead of time.
    Thank you

On the clearance I made sure it was VERY close between the drive roller and the Dremel. Really I wish I could make it closer :) because the closer you make that area the less foam waste you have left under the roller and the more foam you have to cut. Of course you can always use all of your foam by tapping a scrap piece of foam to the end of the foam you are cutting to allow just enough for the roller to grip it(say an 5" piece) and then lay out all your parts (in SketchUp/PhlatscripT) in a larger layout than the normal 22x42. you could at that point cut the entire sheet at 22x 48.

yea mark, i got it fixed.... as close as the dremel is to the roller, i would not dare design the printer like this.....all ya gotta do is relocate the centerline of the slot 3/16in. tward the front of the printer. everything is cool. randy.

I went and checked my distance from the slot to the front of the PP, and mine is 6" too.
My machine came from the first batch that went out. Although my knockoff dremel is inside the slot it is off center a little but definately not where yours was. I think your problem was somewhere else.

I saw your paint job so far that is looking sweet bro. I think you using that Kilz as a primer was a great idea.
I will look for him today, thanks Randy
