Ok, trying to break my designers block by trying to get an F-4 designed, it will have a 40mm ducted fan in it.

You are going to have a lot of interest in this little baby! Looks great!

How are you planning to tackle the elevator control and the split ducting?

Jeff, that's looking very cool! I agree with Thewz on this one - you are gonna have lots of interest in it when it's all worked out.

    Keep it up, bud!

Can you send me the file you have to this point? I'd like to mess around with it. Any changes or updates I make I will send right to you Jeff.

    Hi Jeff,

Looks like the exhaust is pretty restricted there. You really need it to me as wide as the fan unit with as little obstruction as possible. You could do this but you would need to build a diverter and ensure that the total area of the opening is just about equal to the fan. There are some folks that say to restrict it slightly but I am no expert....

    more restriction= more speed
    less=more torque.
I won't know until the EDF shows up and I can run some tests

Yes but the restriction for speed is generally a conical shaped exhaust nut a flat plane interfering with the flow of air. Just a thought...again I am no expert.

Look at the way I have the exhaust setup by hiding the top and sides, it is not hitting a flat plate

Looks good Jeff. I didn't pull the latest SU file and look so thanks for the update.

Have you got the EDF yet?

No, still waiting but I did make a trial cut just to see where changes need made and I found a few areas that needed tweaked

Jeff, that looks great! Its a lot bigger then I imagined it to be, looks very cool.
I tell you it never ceases to amaze me going from the model and then having it hand in the real world, the whole concept is just to cool! :D
    Keep up the good work

That is a big one, Jeff, love it. Like Mark said, much bigger than I thought. What kind of a EDF are you going to use? It must be a big one, I imagine.

The most distinct marks of the F4 are the down-swept full-rotating stabs. Are you going to make the down-angle bigger?

It did come out much larger than the 20 inch wingspan looks, I thought it would be smaller but I did not think about how long jets are compared to the wingspan.
the rear stabs have alot of anhedral buit into them , the angle of the picture doesn't really show it. I may have to revisit the thought of a 40MM EDF unit
