    Hi!

Over at rcg they directed me to this forum because you guys are supposed to be the sketchup professionals :)

I've been trying to build the nascelles for my B-17 for some weeks without any success. Now Ive modeled them in sketchup and they turned out quite nice.
However I cant seem to find the right way to unfold them.
I always end up with lots of strips or rings that would require a lot of glueing to assemble and it feels like the should be a better way.

Maybe someone could have a look at this part and give me some ideas about how to transfer it to flat foam.

    thanks in advance,

I now remodelled the part with less detail.
The result seemed very edgy, but once its made in foam it realy seams smooth enough for spakle and sanding to complete it.
Seems lik the key to SU is finging the right amount of detail.. Attached files [IMG]

Well it looks like you got it figured out.
Less detail will help a lot. Being that its foam when it gets put together you can always sand it to a nice smooth shape.
    Good job.

    Welcome to the Phlatforum Ierwin!
Looks like I am a little late with this post but others may find it useful as well
Here is a crash course video tutorial to show you one way that the unfold tool can be used for your models.
    Hope it helps out

One cool feature that would be an awesome addition to the unfold tool, would be the ability to add material thickness! That way when you fold it back up in the real world it would be a perfect fit!
