While waiting for the new script to come out today , i went searching the forums for something else i could cut out of the 1/8" ply. I found a dxf file for this little guy.

I should have scaled it for 1/8" but i have a bunch of junk 6 mm depron that i hate even worse than fanfold :D

Partially sanded it dont look too bad........ ;)

Now for the new script to come out ,so i can cut it out of wood ! :p

But till it does get realeased i will just keep sanding this one !

Why are you gluing the sashimi back together? Are you on a crazy diet? ;)

That looks like a good model, ewo.

That came out great! Now using that same technique along with the slicer plugin you could make two fuse halves for a nice looking plane :)
    Great job ewo!

    Thanks guys.

I got the new script this morning. And gave a test run to see how it worked.........

It worked fantastic when i got the bit hight adjusted right.
Now i can do this with plywood after all. :D

I was playing with the slicer program this morning mark and was thinking the same thing.
I think it would work great ;) Attached files [IMG] [IMG]

Well, i hope it will be really cool ! I did get a bit off topic by posting the pictures of the wooden cuts. Sorry about that But i was kinda excited about my success and i just wanted to show off the new phlatscript and its capabilities to do the cuts.

It took some time to figure the bit hight out yesterday but i think i have it understood now. i had to place a 6mm piece of foam on the tabletop in front of the cutter so the bit hit the plywood squarely instead of at an angle. It worked out. I have some fairly large (12"x24" 1'8" birch plywood i picked up Friday for these wooden (MORE THAN JUST THE SHARK) projects and the bit will be a 1/16" chipper bit. I will make the cuts tomorrow if work don't hold me back again like it did today.

    peace

    Humm :(

well that didnt go so well. I made a couple rookie mistakes that i thought i wasnt ever going to make again. But i did it again ! :?

First mistake , Feed rate was too fast for the 1/16" bit. I burned it up. Now 2 broken bits and one burned up.

second mistake., changed the bit to 1/8" without resizing the model. (tabs too small to cut with the bit, so no tabs)

Third mistake. I didnt have the bit hight adjusted right and the cuts didnt go all the way through.
I stopped the cutting when i seen it wasnt working right .

Oh well. I will sleep on it and fix the files and try again this weekend.

I did some cleanup on the cutout after cutting it loose . its much too small.

No Biggie, Attached files [IMG]

OK, Well i still have some problems but i think its my file not the script.

Im going to place a video of the cut here. for some reason most of the tabbing dont work right on the file, when cutting in real life........ Im also posting my SKP file so you guru's can look it over and tell me what i did wrong.

ewo, here's my attempt, 3 passes with 1/8" bit. Swoopy curves are nice but I had to stretch 7 or 8 tabs together to get many of them to be 3/8" long! Test it on some inexpensive foam, because my Sketchup took an awful long time to work with this file, so my installation of the PhlatScript is suspect, I think.
Let me know if it works okay. Something still looks funny in the jaw area of the largest piece.
It is 20,294 lines of code.

Hey Thanks Dorsal ! But you have to tell me ? How did you connect the tabs to make one bigger tab ? I tried this but when i tryed the cut, the z axis was like a sewing machine. Up and down then up and down and i still ended up with no tabs

There isnt anything wrong with your Phlatscript installation. My machine was exactly the same. really slow. and there is a problem with the largest piece in the jaw area !

That was me playing with the file the other night then i forgot to fix it back the was it was. :? No problem though. i can still fix that...

    Thanks Brother !
    GREAT BIG EDIT:
Thanks to Marks help !. Im reworking the file . :D

I will recut this afternoon using his suguestions!

ewo, I've been working on the file again. I started off by deleting every face from every part, then selecting "All", then "repair broken lines". It found 121 of them. Then I selected an entire hole and "welding" it, "Yes" to make a face, then all the rect. cutouts, then all the outside lines, making a face for every periphery it welded. The biggest piece took some extra selects to weld all the pieces to it.
Then I applied the inside cuts and the outside cuts and applied the tabs.
To make tabs, first thing I do is make a tab on a straight section so I can SEE how long a default tab is supposed to look.
Then I click-and-hold on a line where I want to start a tab, then continue dragging along the line until all the joined pieces are as long as a default tab on a straight line. On this file, for some reason, my computer will only add segments to the tabs at the rate of 1 per second. I have no idea why this is so.

At least the jawline area looks a LOT better, as do the rest of the cuts. It's now 19,126 lines of code. Attached files Shark3.cnc (461.4 KB)Â Shark3.skp (1.5 MB)Â

I just wanted to share a couple more pictures. A bit off topic again but i think it fits the thread ok.

I am so Proud to be a Phlstprinter owner, builder. I just cant really tell you how i feel !
Its awsome to see the things i think of, come to life right before my eyes !

Thank you Mark and Trish !

This file was cut mostly with the centerline tool at 50%
the outside was cut with the outside cut tool and the screw holes were cut with the inside tool
