Hey Guys, I found another great use for our Phlatprinters!!! I had a customer want to do an inset tile diamond pattern on a kitchen backsplash. So after taking the measurements for the space and tile sizes, I was able to pre construct how the layout would look and present it to the customer. This was helpful because it helped me set the exact grout line to compensate for my allowable space with there tile choice to come up with a perfect fit!!! So here is a couple of pre completion pics, I set the mortar and placed the CNC template, then cut out the tabs of the alternating tiles, set these and then went back removed the other pieces which also helped for the tile cuts!! Some of these where not a perfect half tile so I traced the foam cutout to the tile and walla... perfect fit!! Hope t his helps you guys with your next home improvement!! :D

    Thanks
    John

Sorry but the finished product was deleted from my phone :( Attached files [IMG] [IMG]

I sometims think we have a bit of tunnel vison and don't think outside of the box. That is a great waY of incorporating the phalatprinter into your work like that. I need to step back sometimes and realise what else this great little invention can do besides cut out profile planes I make. nice work John. ;)

Thank you Frank :) I feel the same way!! I was sitting at home frustrated about how I was going to make the customers tile fit in a weird size environment , when it came to me. I have Sketchup and a CNC machine at my finger tips DUH..... LOL :D I always like to be inspired as well!!

Hi Jeff ! That would have made the job take only an hour  Now how am I going to profit that way :D

    Thanks
    John

 John you are too cool! That is awesome!!! I can't wait to share this with my Dad he will love it. I will be using this idea on our next tile job as well. Just imagine the cool inlay patterns you could come up with and have all the parts right there to trace them. Even custom jobs.
The tile job looks great too. Keep up the good work brother and thank you for sharing this cool idea

Thank you for the kind words Mark :p It is amazing how much easier it was to layout on the computer first!! It let me figure my grout lines and also I had patterns for the tiles to be cut!! I set the mastic and that held the foam in place while I cut alternate tiles from the foam, it also kept the mastic wet until they were all set. I wish you could see the finish, but my camera somehow lost the pics! Take care!! :)

There was 18 linear feet around the back splash, it was alot of fun and the tile choice was outstanding!!!
