Funny but not possible... Gasoline will not explode from a lit cigarette. A flame, yes, but not a cigarette. Someone is embellishing their story or the fire safety courses taught at the Power Squadron boating course are not correct.

 

I agree, with flashsolutions. If you do it right you can put a lit match out in gasoline, its the fumes you have to worry about. My guess is there was not enough fumes created with the mixture of water, and if there was, you would have to be more of a idiot to set on a toilet smelling like raw gas then the idiot that dumped the gas it in. Then again Youtube has proved many times over that there are thousands of people competing for the Darwin awards.

Rode motorcycles off and on for over 40 years, never had a motorcycle start when it was in gear with the clutch engaged, I guess if you really tried and kept the starter button pressed long enough and you moved far enough you would get it to start. I pressed the start button many times in gear and your first reaction is to get your finger off the starter.

Who knows might see this on Mythbusters next season.

 

According to Snopes and the well known effects of Boyle's Law, ALL the stories of an explosion from gasoline, lacquer thinner, acetone yada-yada in a toilet bowl are all FALSE!
Try it yourself. The temperature of water in a toilet bowl will cool the (you name it flammable liquid) to the point that the tiny bit of flamable vapors could not "explode".
Yeah, it's a cute story - but so is "Peter Pan" or "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs".
