so my dad just sent in the order for the hardware for this plane!
im very excited to get this plane working. if i like it enough i think this might be the plane that makes me buy some depron for the next build. :)
i will let you all know how the build goes in the next few weeks.
we ordered from hobbyking so it will take a while to get the stuff.
thank you for all of your help everyone. :D

oh hobby king...you need to work a lil bit faster. lol
so i want to build this with blucore fff without the film so it is easier to sand and make pretty but once i peeled both sides off of a piece of foam i noticed how flimsy it got. the plastic film makes a big difference and gives the foam so much more strength. so my dad and i have been talking about fiber-glassing our wings on a few of our planes.
i think this is what im gonna do with this plane
it is gonna be sooooo awesome
all i have to do is wait for hobbyking to just give me my parts.

Hobby King doesn't stock much in the US, but if you do a search for USA Warehouse, it will show you what they do have. It's mostly batteries, but a few other things. From a quick look, there are not motors at all.

I am new to the Phlatprinter I just got and built mine a short time ago works great. Builds are a lot faster now. I have built 25 planes to date and my son and I fly most of them on a regular basis. This is my Question Fan Fold is not available in my area just pp3 so I use a lot of the Dollar Tree foam board as it is 20x30 I have to make new Skechup files and Phlat code for all.
My problem is I want to do your Full fuselage F-14 on the 20x30 board as well as make one only 75% as big I have not been able to redo the Skechup files to do this any help would be appreciated

rccable, I would recommend you start a new thread for your question in the "Sketchup Help" forum: viewforum.php?f=95
It could take alot of back and forth questions; and it will help people in the future with the same question. You need to explain what your problem is. Basically, what steps you can't do.

I really doubt the dollar tree foamboard will stand up to this design, there is alot of force applied at the pivot area and imo it is just too soft of a material

    Hey rccable,
I've been pretty busy and couldn't get back to you right away but I have updated the files in the first post with the newest version of the Phlatscript applied. They are still layed out for the 22x42 dimension but they are not grouped anymore and the script created a much cleaner gcode this time around.
I will respond to your Sketchup help thread on the how to get them into the 20x30 area.

    Hey Shaun,

Any chance you (still) have an .SKP with the original parts (I mean for the flat fuselage)?

I bought this kit (from "birdofplay") about 2 years or so ago (when I did not have a Phlatty yet,) but I never got to make it, until now!
I want to redo some of the parts (like do the fuse in one piece and so), I drew over the original drawing from Maybz, to get the missing parts (you know like how you "normally" make a design from a 3view picture in SKP) but since I am not good at assembling the parts in Sketchup, there are slight differences...(Sketchup and I get along fine in 2D, in 3D it's a whole different story... )

You made an awesome mod, but I'm just happier with the Phlatfuse (less work, faster in the air...)

    Thanks anyway!

    Martin

Thanks for your fast response guys, and your help Jeff, but unfortunately they are the files containing the full fuse, and not the original flat fuse.. :(

Hopefully you still have them laying around on some old'nalmostforgotten harddisk or memorystick somewhere Shaun... ;)

    Best regards,
    Martin

    Awesome, thanks very much guys!

(funny thing is: I looked throughout all the topics in the single wing aircraft part of the forum, and the other topic did NOT show up there...(but a search for F14 did indeed give me that topic. Makes me wonder if there are any more "hidden gems" :) )
