Those look too big to be Serranos, so I am guessing that they are Thai Chiles (also called Bird's Eye Chiles). Very good and very hot!!

My neighbor grew these in his garden a few years ago. If I remember correctly they grow pointing up. Yes they do add a nice little zip. I actually had some ground up ones on some potato salad today for lunch... GOOD stuff

I agree with Crash, they look like Thai's. I have messed in about every kind of pepper and many of them look a lot alike. I love hot stuff but am suffering in Indiana. I don't know what someone has done to peppers, but Jalapenos sold here have absolutely no heat level. You can eat them like an apple. Folks in this area are not too big on hot stuff. Next year, I am going to have to grow my own again.

On a whim one year I tossed some red savina habanerro(?) seeds in a big pot of good soil. Those things got hotter every year to the point of scary hot. The last year there we were all out standing around grilling whatever and drinking cold beer when someone pulled one off the now large bush thinking it was a typical ornamental pepper we eat on everything around here.

I was the only one with a tad of compassion and protested the consumption of the sinister half chili pepper he held. The other half, or most of it was still on the bush just oozing a drop of the choke and tears while I relayed my near death experience with said chili plant. As I spoke and we watched that chili, a fly landed on it, then fell to the ground spinning on its back like a cracked out break dancer, then it died ;) We all laughed hard, flipped burgers, got more beers and by then good ol 'whats his name' had already forgot the lesson and popped the chili in his mouth. The party ended at that point. He survived
