That is cool Tim! Looks easy enough to build. I did build something similar to this one a long time ago but it never worked as good as this one seems to.
    Thanks for sharing

I figured you had done something similar...I thought it would be neat for duplicating out of production fuselages....I am just trying to figure out how one would motorize it...I suppose limit switches would be the easiest way to go, you'd just have to adjust them manually...

Limits are a good idea for this you could wire the motors to opposite poles when it hits one or the other, kinda like a 2 way switch. So it would continue to bounce back and forth.
My cousin has an EDM machine in his shop and one of the coolest features it has is that the limits stops are on magnetic bars and you can slide where you want alone the run. So that it can bounce the head rapidly if you set them close. This same idea could be applied here with a cam that would 'push' the side to side assembly over a certain amount for each pass perhaps. Now you have me thinking of all kinds of ideas :D

HEHE..I figured I could get the creative juices flowing! You are on the same track I am...2 way switches, and a way to locate them easily...the magnetic bar idea is great!

One could use this to make a plug of a cowl or canopy, then take the plug and pull a new one on the PhlatFormer.

Interesting machine for sure. I think if I didn't have a Phlatprinter I would make something like that.
