I highly recommend selling the 180 and getting the DL 20 gasser. The DL 20 has the dimensions of a Saito 120 but the power of a Saito 150. Saves a lot on fuel being gas. I get 10 minutes on a 6 oz tank. :D At $3 a gallon right now, I am a very happy flier.

I had converted my Saito 120 to work on gas. You should see the cute little spark-plug that it uses.

Yeah I just read about someone else who converted a Saito to gas. Those little spark plugs are cool.

The big profile Yak54 came out really nice! As I looked over the photos I wasn't able to figure out how you are securing the wings to the fuse. Usually they attach with screws from inside. Did you use a tab on the underside of the wing similar to a removable stab construction? Lastly, where might I find landing gear like you used? They don't appear to be simple aluminum strap.

Doug, some GS planes actually use bolts thru the bottom of the wing and into the wing tube. Like stabs do... Mind you this isn't as common in 30 percenters and above as it is in smaller craft

Haha. I took one of the blind nuts out from one wing half and have a nylon bolt going in from the inside of the wing through the fuse and then connecting to the blind nut on the other wing.
To do this I had to cut a hatch in one wing.
The Landing gear are tetherite gear from OMP. http://www.ohiomodelplanes.com/tetherite/index.htm
These landing gear are awesome. They have just the right amount of flex and if you have a rough landing they usually don't break.

If and when I dork my 47 EF Yak, I'll make ya a baby e-brother! Got the same yellow and black scheme and I do love the Steelers colors. Just not the Steelers. Sorry PA fans.

Great job on this, Shaun. Looks like she is quite a bit better than the original. Wondering, does it still have some of the snap recovery issues at low speed like the full fuse version?

I didn't really have any issues with the full size version, but I can say this one definitely doesn't seem to have any snap recovery issues. The key is to make sure you still have airflow getting to the control surfaces (blip the throttle at the right times).

Awesome job on this big one!! Here's hoping the other big projects will float/fly like yours does. It's an inspiration to build bigger.
