I'm eventually planning to get the Bosch Pony Router Attachment and started seriously considering the need for a good e-stop switch on the front of the machine. After searching a bit I found some nice switches from Grizzly.

I haven't installed them yet as they are a bit big and I'm still deciding where to mount them. Possibly one in the machine for the AC to the stepper power supply and the E-stop paddle for the router outlet in the stand. Still deciding mounting details but thought I would post in case anyone is looking for switches.

:) Yeah, I know pretty large stop paddle. Though I figure if I need to hit it I want it to be large and easy to engage.

I finally got around to installing my E Stop Switch when I was doing my roller replacement. My P3 has one E-Stop Switch that acts as a master switch for the three individual AC outlets that I wired to toggle switches for individual control. I also put in a 110V AC indicator light and an green 24V LED that indicates when the DC power supply is putting out 24V to the stepper drive card. I moved the power supply out of the right bay and onto the inner back wall of the machine as I have scraped the metal case a couple of times when raising and lowering the pressure rollers. Lots more room now in that bay. I'll have to watch the amount of dust getting into the power supply vents with the new location. I still need to make labels for the 3 toggle switches but other than that everything is good to go.

Now that is great, and actually I copied and move my power source. I see that you cover the rollers diagonally. Can you see any difference between strait and diagonally covered rollers?
    A+ for everything Ben.
    Take care.

Thanks guys. It was a bit of work to get the switches and indicator lights installed but I'm happy with the result now.

A couple of other people on the forum had tried the spiral pattern and thought it sounded promising so I thought I'd give it a try. The hardest part was cutting the excess after I stuck it on. I can't think of too many things that dull a knife as quick as the 3m traction tape. It just took a little patience but I did get it cut. I haven't cut much since the tape / roller install so I really can't comment on the difference between the two methods. I will say that I like the aesthetic of the spiral pattern better but my primary concern would obviously be that it is functional.

EdwardG. I used the back of my original wiring diagram to make a template but I'll see if I can salvage what is left. Blank paper doesn't last long in the garage when I'm mid project. If I get motivated I may try to put one together in Visio that might be a little easier to follow.

I didn't use one in my install but I think it would be prudent to use a fuse of some type. I would also caution people about respecting the 110VAC lines running to the outlets. Please be careful with any wiring mods you attempt.

Ben, I see you use the Easy CNC board (albeit the 4 axis one). Where did you connect your E-Stop on the board? I couldn't find a location for it in the schematic.

BTW, don't you have problem with saw dust getting into your power supply?

    Yoram,

Sorry about the delay getting back to you. I just got back from vacation and saw your post. My E-Stop just disconnects the 110V AC to my 24V power supply and rotary tool drive. I believe you can wire it through the board as well but that's not the way I have it connected. Just disconnecting the power with the switch isn't very elegant but if something bad happens it pretty much assures that steppers will stop when I hit the E-stop button.

I was initially concerned about dust getting into the power supply in the new location but I usually vacuum it manually when the machine is cutting so it hasn't been an issue yet. If I have issues I'll just make a simple shield. I haven't been producing that much dust when the machine is in operation though but I am watching it.

I've attached the limit switch page from the EasyCNC manual in case you hadn't seen it. Hope this helps. Good luck with your install.

Thanks for the drawing, Ben. I've seen it on the EasyCNC site. I already finished my limit-switch and E-switch installation. You can see it here: viewtopic.php?f=264&t=2938
