Here is a old hovercraft I made that I have decided to revive. I am trying to come up with a good way to cut the skirt out using the Phlatprinter and a thick (3mil) garbage bag.
Any ideas would help? I will post the plans when I am done :D

    Here are the skirt files

    Morning Mark,
I was thinking if you had a plastic bag sealer , you could make the bag any size you want and then just cut the center section out and attach to the foam... This way you'll have all four corners sealed.....Just a thought..

I'm not sure if the bit will cut the bag right without grabbing it but an idea would be spray some 3m adhesive on a piece of foam, let it dry so its tacky, then lay the garbage bag on it.
If you dont cut all the way through the foam you could reuse it for the other pieces. You should be able to pull the bag from the foam once its cut. This would be cool if it can work.

Oh and I agree, you do come up with some cool stuff!

    Plastic bag cutting,
Another way or two to cut, as above mentioned to glue bag onto foam, have PP cut bottom outline and remove... Or if you could use a vaccum type to draw the material ( as a vaccum table) and the plastic should not move..... :)

    lol so true

Thanks for the tips guys, I will try it out and post what happens.
I did one once before by taping the bag flat but as you know that will not work too well as the bag will want to wrap around the bit. I think what we need is a real low tack glue that can be applied and maybe washed off after the cutting is done? I just do not want it to gum up the bit.
Another idea is to sandwich the plastic between two sheet of foam and cut through the first one and a little in to the second?

Not yet this was one I posted before we left for FL
While we were there we got the flu, so we have been taking it easy for a while.
I will get to it as soon as I feel a little better.
    Thanks

p.s All the foam parts are laid out there in the SketchUp file, its just a matter of working them up with the PhlatscripT if you want to try and cut it out and see how it fits. So actuality yes all the foam parts are there, it was how to cut the skirt(which is there too)from a thick trash bag that was giving me problems.
So you can cut away if you like :)

Here is a SU-6 file for you guys who haven't switched to SU-7 yet.

SU-7 is free just like SU-6 unless you want the "Pro" version. Attached files MoHawk1-SU6.skp (322.1 KB)Â
