    Hi guys!!

I have had my PPIII up and running for a while, and one thing that is a bit of a minor nuisance is the way I have to turn on the vacuum and the spindle on by hand then unplug them afterwards (how lazy is that?), so I ordered a relay set for the controller board.

Easy enough to wire up by the numbers but I can't get the software to operate the tools. I have power according to the lights on the board. Also the jumper on the relay board is set to operate two loads independantly.

I am sure the settings/outputs is where the controls are set up, but my feeble knowledge here has so far prevented me finding the right boxes to check.

As I plan on adding limit switches as well I need to get this sorted out.

Thanks for any help you might offer!!! :D

PS I need to get a pic up in post your Phlatprinter!!!

I believe you need m3 to turn the spingle on and m5 to turn it off. I guess you could use the coolant on and off M5 and M9
it's a pain to turn the spindle and vac on.

    Are you Running Mach ?

Here is the Thread on the Screenset I just posted on for the Vac and spindle buttons.
The code to turn the spindle on and off is auto generated when you create in SU
I have the vac and spindle on a 2x outlet so they come on together.

I'm not using Mach ET, thanks for your time. I am using the Easy_CNC software.

Should I got to Mach instead?

I guess I haven't tried to run a program on it to see if it starts I will try that.

I haven't used the output board on the Easy-cnc so I'm not sure what the settings are.
The spindle start/stop is allready in the code so just hook both spindle and Vac into the same relay. It is nice because you can walk away from the machine and know when the file is done because the spindle /vac shut off.

Sure sounds and looks easy enough ET but there is no output or the relay board is bad.

I'm pretty sure it is wired correctly.

The buttons on the software control panel work correctly on the panel but my outputs never go high.

There is power going to the relay board cause the light is on (I know this doesn't mean it is good)

I am hoping there is something in the settings that I am missing but I just spent about an hour and a half trying to find the right box. The software documentation doesn't even mention the output tab.

I'll keep at it and maybe I will blunder into my problem, I know I am just doing something really newb like.

    Hi GP,
Sorry I do not know how this would work on other relay boards, but planet-cnc does sell a relay board that it will work with.
I found this and it may be helpful for you http://planet-cnc.com/extra/output_board/
You may want to PM or email or even post in the USBCNC thread I am sure Andrej would be happy to answer this for you.

OMG I told you it was a newb thing that was keeping me down.

I was trying to connect the relay board to the driver board and not the controller board

Obviously the connectors on the driver board are fed directly by the serial port and aren't connected when the USB controller is used.

I had looked at that page before Mark, but something clicked when I started looking at it again when I clicked your link.

Thanks a heap for trying to help out a newb guys!!

BTW a Futaba female servo connector has perfect pin size and spacing to make connections to those connectors on the "controller" board. :dance3:

Having those relays hooked up really makes it much easier. (how lazy is this guy right......................pretty lazy :fugly: )

Glad it helped out GP :good:
Thank you for this great tip. It will come in handy.
Its really cool once you get it working and like Evil-Tunes says you machine turns on and off at the start and end of the cuts. You can be in the other room and know when your machine is done :banger:
