    Hey guyz!

Here is the PhlatWING design we did for EvilTunez B-Day Fly In! :D
As of now this is an untested design and there are a few tweaks that could be done for a better fit.
This will give your Phlatprinters a workout :)
I used the 1/16th bit diamond cut bur bit from the bit kit (more aggressive cutting teeth then the dremel 1/16th bit) If the dremel 1/16th bit is all you have you may have to slow the feed rate a little so that you don't push the foam.
    1.2 mm carbon was used.
We are going to use the same set up we use on the micro Flying Surfer Dude design
    Size: Ultra-Micro 4-Site Prop
    Size: 130mm X 70mm UM 4-Site
Speed Control and Servos: Brushed controller and integrated servos on the AR6400L Recommended Battery: 1S 160mAh
    Scale: Ultra-Micro
    Experience Level: EXPERT/Intermediate
Recommended Environment: Indoor/Outdoor (light to no wind)

You can watch the PhlatLAB show to see how we build them.
Let's see if we can work together to get these flying great!
They would be a lot of fun to have at an indoor event!

    Have Fun! :D

Here's the PhlatLAB show where we build a few

Dear Phlatboyz. Please keep in mind that these plans are copyrighted. Trish and I do plan on making Micro version of a lot of these planes for sale as well as these larger versions. These planes can not be sold in any form or modified or sold. If we find that someone has done this, there will be zero tolerance and it will result in an immediate ban of all things Phlat, and may include legal action. These designs come from countless hours of hard work and dedication. Even though they have cartoonish appearance, it took a long time to get these to fly in they style we were after. We ask you please, keep these private. Do not share the files with anyone else. You can cut them out for yourself and give them away to your friends. So, basically, the files are copyrighted by Phlatboyz, LLC Mark and Trish Carew 2010. Thank you so much for supporting and understanding our decision.

Cool! Thanks to you, I have a plan where my other Vapor power supply will get mounted. It may be a little underpowered but we'll see.

(p.s. I love flying wing designs.)

Thanks guys, I think they will be a lot of fun :D
One thing I see is that with all the electronics on there its hitting out really close to the CG point but still seems a little tail heavy. I did notice that with the motor straight in the thrust line it wants to glide a little but also wants to nose down after a few feet. You will want to angle the motor a little so that it wants to keep the nose up.
These are based on little test glides done over the bed here at home.

I noticed with the wings i have had they require some reflex dialed into the radio to make them fly properly

Has anyone had any luck with this wing? I was planning on making this one of my first projects with my new PP, but UPS did not want me to have it this weekend. Since I did not have my new toy to play with, I decided to build this anyways. I used the guts from a beat up Sukhoi that I bought a while back.

The build went pretty good and this little wing looks great. Once I had everything glued up I realized that the Sukhoi's prop is way too big. I didn't have anything smaller and I did not want to cut into the ailerons, so I cut the prop down until it fit. The push rods gave me a hard time and they did not come out as well as I wanted them to, so I will redo them later.

The CG was a little bit aft from where I calculated it should be, but I decided to try it out anyways. It is very windy right now so I did not get a very good flight, but it did fly. It was pretty squirrely with the wind, so I will have to wait until later tonight to give it a true test flight. Attached files [IMG] [IMG]

    SilverFox,
That's fantastic you got it to fly! We had a really hard time with it being stable at all and started to look into ways to make it more stable , perhaps making the wing sweep more pronounced.
Where did your cg end up being?
Thanks for the update and trying this one out :good:

I did get it to fly, but I would not say that it flew well. The CG was an issue for me. I've built a few wings in the past and I've always used this site to help me calculate the CG.

    Flying wing CG Calculator
    http://fwcg.3dzone.dk/

Using the SketchUp file, I input the numbers and it gave me a CG of 2.89" from the leading edge. Mine was flying with the CG a little over 3" and it was not happy. I tried moving the battery all the way forward, but that was not enough. I also cut some of the foam away and moved the motor forward, but that caused other issues. I should have check the thrust angle first. The original thrust angle might have been ideal and now that I have it on straight, it does not fly well at all.

I stopped messing with it when the UPS guy rang my doorbell and delivered my PP. I have some ideas that I want to try, so I'll report back with my results.

Well, I got the wing to fly. I took the plans for my 36" wing that I designed a while back and scaled it down to 18". After a few tries, I managed to get it flying with the motor up front. The CG ended up at 2.7" from the nose. It still needs some work, but its a start. I'll upload the sketchUp file and G-code later. Here is a short video of it in the air. The wind is blowing a bit today. As you can see in the video, it is blowing this little wing around.

The audio gets loud at the 30 second mark for some reason.

I finally got around to finishing this one, I'm sorry it took so long. This version flies very nice indoors. It really turned a few heads last weekend at our indoor event.

I used the guts from the new Sukhio. The Motor, brick, and servos were mounted up front and the battery was taped along the trailing edge of the body to get the CG right. The SketchUp file should be right. I cut one out, but I had some skewing so I'm not 100% sure. The CG should be on the spar line. Let me know what you guys think.

    Forgive me Boyz.
Im not nearly as far along as i had hoped to be today
But here is where i am at . there are a few more parts that are needed to get the wing to balance where it should . Notice the 4-Site motor and gearbox.
There's a vertical and lower fin yet to be added.
The lower fin is mostly to aid in launching the wing.
