I'm almost ready to cut loose my visa card and get a Phlatprinter 3. One question for the users out there. Has anyone cut carbonfiber or fiberglass sheets? I'm heavy in the multirotor scene and my latest machine is designed with carbonfiber and fiberglass sheet material in mind. It would be a huge bonus for me if my Phlatprinter could cut me out some prototype parts.

If you have the right cutting bit, one that can cut carbon fiber, than yes, the PP III will cut it. I myself have not cut carbon fiber but had cut circuit boards which are made of fiberglass.

Only prob is the dust, very dangerous to the lungs. Kram had a great idea of cutting it in a thin pan of water, eliminating any dust, not sure if anyones tried it yet.

I've cut quite a bit of G-10 Garolite. Much cheaper than carbon fiber and the Phlatprinter cuts it very nicely with a 1/16th chip breaker bit. You have to design carefully and cut slowly with it. The P3 would be great for prototyping onesy-twoseys but I don't think you'd want to do a production run with it.

I have cut bits out of 1/8 CF sheet.

It cuts well with the right bit. Normally I glue it with 3m 77 glue to a sheet of foam to act as a carrier and dont worry about tabbing.

Be sure to have the vacuum right there to get all the dust and wear a proper mask.
