TV, we did address this. If there is evidence that a mouse was trapped and chewed their way out, the mouse is still considered caught for this contest's purpose.

Since our mouse has eaten peanut butter off of a regular snap type mousetrap without setting off the trap, I would guess we have one of the super mice you speak of.

I'm sure that after the peanut butter buzz wore off they would eat through the foam here also

I think Mice like to follow walls. If Possible ALL the traps should all be out in the open.

I'm in. The Evil-Tunes PhlatTrap has been summited.

    Cheers

Do you want to trap the mouse or not?
I think all the traps should be set against the walls, with the entrance in the crawl-path.

I'm not going to bother entering anything - the squabbling is going to become too childish, too quickly for me to stay in attendance.

Squabbling? I don't hear any squabbling going on. Must be my tin ear again. Suggestions are being made, but it is totally up to Mark and Trish to decide how and where to place the traps.

And let's not forget, Mark and Trish are trying very hard to keep this a FUN place to visit and hang out. The contest is really about giving us all a chance to show off our own creativity and have some fun in the process.

The prize is nice, but I would have participated with or without it. It does add a nice incentive to put your creative juices to work however.

Get your toys out and come play with us.

The only thing that comes to MY mind is a design that's not very humane! LOL Maybe I'll draw it up to share...

I can't wait to see what folks come up with! I've got a single little mouse that's been pestering my wife in our bathroom. It's so tiny that it won't spring our traps, either. I actually get a kick out of how my wife carries on when she sees this miniscule little creature - it totally cracks me up! She puts out poison to kill it, and I empty it in the trash! She thinks the mouse is eating up everything she puts out, but yet it still LIVES! LOL

We've been going through this cycle all Winter now. NOBODY TELL HER!! LOL

(oh great...now you guys all have "the goods" on me!) :D

I have the theme for the next contest, if one is desired...

A Rube Goldberg machine to do some task! I have always loved those things. :)

Crash, exactly what I was thinking. I wanted to do a Rube Goldberg mouse trap, but there is not enough time to get something like that together. I'm going to have trouble squeezing in a simple one. (but I'm working on it)...

If all the traps fail, you could just stop feeding that cat so well.
It will get hungry enough to catch the mice for you, within a couple days. :)

    My entry is quite simple.

Place peanut butter on the lip of the trap door between the door and the casing.

The peanut butter serves as a sort of glue, holding the trap door closed until mousey steps on the door and eats away at the bait, at which time the glue stops holding and mousey drops into the container, closing the door behind him. Here is my simple yet effective design.
Mouse goes through the door, door falls behind him. Mouse caught  . Attached files [IMG] [IMG]

I'm not very good with SU at all yet, so I went with a very simple design. The mouse simply walks up the ramp, sees the food in the bottom and can't resist going in to get it but then finds that the opening is too far up and can't get out.

I made sure to make it handicap assessable with the hand rail. This hotel is up to state code.

Here is my very simple but hopefully effective trap. There is a very slight friction fit at the front that hopefully will let go once the mouse steps in closing the door.
