Mine used a similar arrangement of a teeter board that trips a gravity door. My artzy side took over and I had to dress it up a little bit, hence the Super Cat!

They all look pretty clever to me. I'd say the winner will be which ever trap the mouse decides to visit because I think they all would trap a mouse.

WW8S, I like the Super Cat. lol

Thanks guys, I think they all look really good too. I would like to have glued a weight to my door to make sure it closes. It's just not that reliable as is and I didn't have time to come up with something different.

I think 7Up or AnyAirRC both look like the most reliable mechanisms. It will be interesting to see what Mark and Trish think. I'd love to see what they would have come up with.

New Rule :) We are going to put all of the mouse traps in the Kitchen tomorrow night and hopefully have the web cam up and running a LIVE feed.

Sorry guys. It just got too late on us. We want to do be sure to bait and set all of the traps correctly and not rush through it because we are tired.

Thank you everyone for watching and submitting your mouse trap designs. We'll should be back on around 9:00 EST tomorrow night.

FYI, there are two more traps to be cut. We'll show them to you tomorrow night.

Thank you again and good night.

I found a cool pgm to capture screen movements.... Do a google search for movement detector 1.0 and you will find links to download it.

You have to have a web cam. Point the web cam at the screen.

Save the exe in a folder and create a folder named images under it.

setup the screen settings like shown in my attachment. You can test by checking the Beep checkbox and moving your mouse pointer across the screen...

When you are setup, check the box to save the images.

Anytime something moves on the screen, you will get a timestamped screen capture! Attached files [IMG]

I gave the motion capture thing a try and no go here. I get good vid but no save, had an error loop run away once- kind of funny- but after a half hour of trying everything I know to basically crack it, I tossed in the towel. maybe later.

    Flashsolutions,

Nice find. That tiny window in the upper right, has so much better color. Is your web cam correcting it?

You have to create a folder named "images" underneath the folder where the exe lives. The error messages are telling you it cannot find the images folder.

I haven't figured that one out. I guess the camera sees the light differently than my display settings show it. It actually represents the colors more accurately. Have no idea why.

The only design I could think off was a square box, with multiple thickness for the walls, and a lot of tape holding it together.

Inside would be a really big firecracker, that the mouse would activate through both a pressure & an IR sensor connected to a micro-controller. The firecracker would then be ignited though an electric detonator (available cheaply from Maplin here)

I imagine the walls off the trap would try to break apart and get rounder but would be pulled back together by the tapes (lots of them) Kind of like a bomb-proof luggage container some airlines use.

The mouse should be killed by the shock wave with minimal damage to its body (it is the "more humane part" I think) as it stand right next to the explosion.

You also get the added satisfaction of hearing a bang in the middle of the night, waking up to think "gotcha"!

You've heard that "a watch pot never boils" saying. Well it seems that a watched mouse never comes out of hiding.

My motion detector captured 1300 images this morning, but they were all of Mark and Trish checking the bait.
