Cool looking design, I'd work on it if I had the time. Too many other projects right now.

This is feakin awesome! I have been contemplating building one of these for a while! It'll be interesting to see if I can beat someone else to drawing this one up and generating the PhlatCode. Autogyro's engage!

I have it started, for the 3mm media he suggests, would require a tiny bit

Cool Jeff, looks pretty good so far. Maybe a 1/16" bit would work?

I would think a 1/16 bit would work slots are 1/8" so it may be a little loose, I will see if the Phlatcode will generate for it when i get the basic drawing completed.

I will finish working up the drawings for it and may cut one out to check fit, but I have no gear small enough for this plane, might order a setup from a slow boat from China someday though.
I did resize some stuff for the 4.5MM Dollar Tree foam board. I have never purchased any 3MM stuff ever but have a couple of the Dollar Tree boards laying around.
I will cut one in the A.M. and see how it works, I am only doing the foam parts.

Are the rotors reinforced foam also?

Yea I used all 6mm depron even for the rotors. It was a hoot until one rotor locked up causing a roll that killed my twirl. Be sure to build up the rotor hubs as stated in the plans.

The build log for the one i am working up shows strips of balsa.
I am ready to cut but my girlfriend stole all my Dollar Tree board to make yard sale signs

Jnida63, a girlfriend that will take your hobby supplies to make her signs will turn into a wife to take your checkbook to make her car payments. :(
Now you can never say you weren't warned.

I'm glad someone picked up where I left off, Phaltprinter is down right now from Z gantry missing steps everywhere. I am putting in ZBN's and bushings along with new stepper motors and Acme 3/8ths-12 threaded rods on the Z and Y gantrys.
It will be a while before all the parts get here

Jeff, after switching to 3/8-12, you may need to increase your acceleration time for those axes. Just something to keep in mind. :)

Someone asked if these fly well. The answer is yes. I have built well over a dozen and they all fly well even in some pretty good wind. I have also built and fly a 150% Twirl made from 6mm Depron and it fly's great! Altitude is controlled by throttle. The elevator will pitch the plane up or down and allow the Twirl to hover into the wind if you like. These are fun aircraft and if I can help anyone with building problems or suggestions please let me know.

Can somebody point me to the c.n.c. file for the Twirl? The one I have has some mistakes in it and I cannot find another. Any help will be appreciated, I want to make a couple of these little twin gyros. Thanx...
