Alright I am not sure if I am the first person to do this, but it works. I needed to add an elevator to the rear because the elevons did not have enough authority. So I made ailervators lol It is like adding full flying elevators to the elevons. I did it this way to avoid extra weight in the back and to keep it simple to build. Further testing will happen this week and weekend. For now let me know what you think of the looks.

It looks like that would be effective, but I gotta agree with Jeff...thrust vector would be cooler! It wouldn't take much movement, but the added weight behind the cg might be to much, unless you mounted the servo forward of the cg, and used a simple articulating motor mount...

Thats alot of control surface to move. Hopefully it's not too much. You could also do like some of the profile jets by linking the 2 together with control rods going to the servo. Then the fulcrum point for the elevator would be closer and not strain the servo as much.

OK, for the articulated mount, here is an idea. This is the first time I have ever tried to draw in 3d, so don't be to rough on me. Normally, I would just shape a prototype out of foam by hand, and when I was happy with it, build it out of wood...this 3D drawing thing is new to me!

Obviously, you would need two tab on the shaft to mount to the plane's firewall, but it took me long enough to get that looking right...

I have flown it with the crazy "ailervators" and it works. I cut the back pieces off and glued them to the elevons at the field, like my picture. My first idea was vectored thrust but the 1800mah pack is all the way forward and vectored thrust takes a mighty tough servo. What if I keep the shape very close to the original like this?

That looks pretty darn good to me as well! Still keeps the intent of the original design.

What if you added one servo just for Elvator controll on the fins? kinda like vtail but no turning. Just UP /and Down /

I am still working on it, it still has a tendency to climb under power. I am trying to fix that, going to play with some KF airfoils.

Ok I am still having pitch problems with this bird, anyone have an Idea how to fix it? I have tried motor thrust angle, two different KF airfoils ( above, and below the wing.)

Maybe the cg needs to come further forward??
Seems odd that that the thrust angle didn't solve it though.

I am now thinking that the wing is warping under full power. The wind might be pushing on the forward swept wing tips and changing the AOA.... not sure how to make it stiffer with out too much weight or work lol.

I don't know what size carbon rod your using, but maybe bigger rod. Place it from the upper corner of the wing tip to the inboard part of the aileron. That might help with flex.

can you send me the file? I can mess with it for a while since my PP is down waiting on replacement parts.

I am going to post the file for everyone, I had to pull the radio gear for my new project for RcPowers.com. Feel free to edit it and use it in any way. As is it flies fine but under full power it want to climb. cg is right where the wing meets the fuse.
