We are starting a contest for the best table design for the MK II. Shortly, we will be posting templates to give you the general layout with which we have to work with. The MK II tables will be set up differently than the tables for the Original Phlatprinter.

We will be posting rules, deadlines, and the prize along with the templates over the next couple of days. Please watch for our post update.

You can hear more details from our interview on The Crash Cast at http://www.thecrashcast.com

Thank you, in advance, for participating. We really look forward to seeing your designs. One tip...one of our goals when we were thinking about them was to have the tables fold down rather than up. Extra points will be awarded for this feature.

    Mark and Trish

Here are the template files :D
We will be posting rules and prize details soon, but we figured you could get started with these :)

Contest is over 3DMON won the Ultimate Glue Gun! Great work everyone all the designs were simply incredible. Thank you all for participating.
    Mark and Trish

Here are a few pics of the tables entered

All the tables will be available for download soon in the free plans section :) Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] MKII Tables.skp (909.8 KB)Â MKII Tables_Back.cnc (16.4 KB)Â MKII Tables_Front.cnc (14.4 KB)Â

    Ok, contest rules and details...

Please join the Design the MK II tables contest. We have attached the Sketchup model and the cut out codes for the MK II tables that we designed, for your reference. The model is just a basic shape of how the MK II cabinet is layed out. This will give you a good reference point to work from.

We are asking for your help with this so any ideas you may have even though you might not be able to model it in Sketchup. Please just post your comments and ideas here and maybe one of us here may take that idea and run with it.

The notches on the front are where the table goes.

Keep in mind that the Rotozip power cord sticks out about as far as you see it in the model. So, that will be an obstacle to overcome. Also, we would really like to have the tables fold down instead of up when not in use. This is not a requirement for your submission but it would be a really cool feature.

The contest runs from now until June 30. All contest submissions should be submitted to support@phlatforum.com

Mark and Trish Carew are the judges. We will choose between all submissions and cut out the winner and place them on our MK II. If they work as well as we would like, we will include them with the MK II Kits as the official MK II tables!

ELIGIBILITY: All Phlatboyz and like-minded individuals. You do not have to be a Phlatprinter owner to enter this contest. Just download SketchUp and install the PhlatScripT plug in and go at it.

Rules: All entries must be received by on or before Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at. All entries must be emailed to support@phlatforum.com and include the Sketchup file, Phlat Code text file, and any special instructions you may have for building it. Phlat Code should be generated using the PhlatScripT. We will cut it out on the Phlatprinter using 1/4" fan fold foam with an 1/8" bit. We are not responsible if an entry is not received or if we build the tables incorrectly. When possible, please use the tab and slot construction for ease of build.

    The prize...

Only one prize will be issued.

    Aleene’s Ultimate Glue Gun

This palm fed, dual temp glue gun is fast heating with high output. It comes with four interchangeable non-drip nozzles. The needle nozzle is great for tight spots, crevices and small holes. The flat extension nozzle lays down a wide, flat accurate glue line. The ribbon nozzle lays down a wide, flexible glue ribbon. The side-cut nozzle is shaped to place large volumes of glue into tight corners. The ultimate glue gun also comes with a 5’ removable cord, eight glue sticks and its own carrying case. Use it for crafts, home repair, floral projects, wood and much more.

Please post your questions here or email at at support@phlatforum.com

Thank you for participating. We look forward to your submissions.

No purchase necessary to win. Void where prohibited. By entering this contest, you have agreed to all of the rules listed above and that your design is public and can be shared on the Phlatforum for anyone to download and build. Attached files [IMG]

Is the material rules for this contest the same as for the mouse trap contest, that you can only use foam and a little bit of tape?

Yes, foam, tape, and glue only.

Thanks for the submission AnyAirRc. Great job! Looking forward to other submissions.

We are considering becoming a distributor of this glue gun. Once we have more time to test ours and get some feedback from the winner, we'll make our final decision.

It has a really cool tip which spreads the glue evenly in about a 1/4" width. Perfect for foamies!! We just need to make sure it lives up to the name of the ULTIMATE cordless glue gun.

    Keep the designs coming!

    Thank you for your help.

    I just submitted mine guys!

I had a great time working on this design and playing around in Sketchup. I got a hoot out of seeing the mousetrap contest and was hoping for another event. It will be interesting to see all the different ideas and designs. One of the great things about this hobby is it's diversity. From the people involved to the planes they fly. Yet, at the end of the day we all still eat, sleep, and breath Bluecor!

Good luck and may you always keep air under your wings, or at least have a lot of glue. :p

Can we use foam board ? I think it would make a better table top, because it is so smooth compared to FFF. If it's allowed, go ahead and use it guys, I am so slow at Sketchup at this point that I may not make the deadline.

Well, I have to concede. Too many eggs on the oven or something like that. I had good intentions of finishing up my design today but just can't concentrate. I would have needed a wooden dowel rod anyhow to make it work, and that was against the rules. Too much CAD makes me sleepy, good luck to those who have submitted a design!

AnyAirRc, We will be going live tonight to show and build the designs :)
    tvcasualty
, You can always share it with the guys even though it may not have made it to the contest. I am sure that it will be great. The plan is to share all the tables on here (with the designers permission) so that people can pick the one they like and make it. It would be nice to have your design as a part of that group as well.
I know what you mean about not having enough time in a day :) Its just crazy!
