Hey guys I am really excited to get my MKII built and ready for some foam. Our friend Randy AKA rjarois found interest in an old build of mine and he got me thinking, its time to put this one on the table again. I had some real pitch issues with my glider version of my snowspeeder ( Star Wars ship) so it has been sitting pretty on my shelf for quite a while now. Maybe a rekindled interest or ideas can make this a new promising project. I know there is alot of drag on this and major dihedral but if I can redesign this as a profile I think we may be onto something. I just want to justify the effort of George lucas and his crew and prove once and for all some of his ships are capable of really flying!! :D
As a big Star Wars Geek, I am going to have alot of fun trying to build these cool ships until I get them to fly! So anyone that has an idea please post it here and maybe the force will be with us so one day we can have a funfly with all of the Phlatboyz and have a bunch of Star Wars ships in the air together. Hey maybe will will get George Lucas attention( Hopefully without handcuffs) and become his new design crew for future movies
I am going to begin with the Official thread I started on the FlyingGiants

Hey John, good to see you looking at the Snowspeeder again. That was one of my favourite models from a few years ago. I'm glad the original is still in one piece, it was too nice to risk experimenting with.

The great thing about the PP is being able to develop and modify designs quickly. It's nice to know that if you crash then you can have replacement parts or a whole new kit ready for building in no time at all. I think you're gonna love your Mk2 :)

    Thanks Si. !!
The MkII has really brought a whole new interest to the hobby for me, as well as endless possibilities! :D It may take me a bit to learn the programs so bare with me!

I really would like to build this as a profile I believe it would be more stable and a lot less weight!! I will update you guys when I get cooking on the Phlatprinter.

do you have any new designs in the works ?

Momma mia! thatsa nice lookina machine, too bad sheesa not gonna fly too good. Maybe you should make a hollow fuselage so the motor and propeller can get some air to push. ;)

So man I just looked over that whole thread, you've GOT to try it out to see if it flys!
I mean it was meant to fly, let her leave the nest!
You've built one, and I'm sure you can build another, and I'm even more sure the next vesrion will be even better!

Don't listen to those guys and their issues with areo-dynamices, lack of verrtical stab, bla bla bla...

Look at those flying boats, who woulda thunk those would fly? K-F? 3D-Hovering?
    Go! Go! Go!
    YOU'VE GOT A MKII NOW!!

ha ha ha, I love your optimism!! I felt the same way and was stoked to get her fly'n. all I really need to do is mount the motor up front as a puller and a hair tailheavy I could bring it down with a slight harrier landing if I get into trouble. I guess I have been looking for the opportunity to do this with some Friends, maybe us Phlat Boyz will get together for a fly in and I will bring it then for the maiden, we could get a good laugh at least!!

Thanks for the boost TV...

Balance it right, give it enough power, anything will fly !!

That looks bad to da' bone Xtream! You know I am into crazy aircraft like this and I can't wait to see the maiden on this one!

Now, is this one made in Sketchup yet?
If not, you really should that way if you crash you can make your changes and print again :)
Plus I know I would like to cut this one out too :D
    Really nice craftsmanship John

Hey extremeRCpilot, were you at last year's "Huck fest" in Napoleon Oh? We are having an electric only fly in on July 25th. I'm sure the snowspeeder would be a big hit. I think if you removed the fronts and backs of the humps where the guns are mounted and left the horizontal surfaces, the airflow over the wing would be greatly improved, without ruining the looks. Maybe even make the guns profile to increase the airflow even more. There's gotta be a way to make it fly without putting the motor up front. Good luck that thing is too cool.

    Thanks Mark and Foamlvr....
Mark, I traced all the parts but had to add libb on some to get them to work right. I may need some advice/help to design the parts but Im with you I can see a dozen of these with stick built AT ATs on a winter day :) Lets talk on this later. I really need to start learning the Sketchup, It will be easy to get into it once the Printer is built and I can cut file WOOHOO!

Foamlvr... Sorry I missed the Huckfest last year , I would love to get there, is it in September? LMK....
"We are having an electric only fly in on July 25th" I am going to put this one on the Calender . I would like to get the Family out for this as well!! Thanks for the invite !! This has got to be an Awesome time!! :)
I agree with you and once I glue my Glider version together without the bulk on it. I will have some printed gun/engine decals applied so it has the smooth airfoil.
Look at the blue one above, I still feel that a puller would fit the bill but it would be much cooler if we could get her fly'n with the pusher !!!!
Thanks for the nice Comments Boyz

xtreme... The info for the Huck fest and the E-fly is on the web site in my sig. I agree about the motor placement on the snowspeeder, would look better in back but might have to be in front to get it to ballance. Oh yeah, everyone is invited to our flyins. :)
