The dvd tutorial for the MK2 is a huge 4.34gig .wmv movie. I cut it up into 12 seperate movies, because it's hard to seek and find stuff, with such a long movie. Anyways, I thought it would be interesting to do it with a batch file, so it could be shared with all. Just unzip the files. There are two batch files (so only works with windows), which do the same thing. You can use either one. The only difference is with one, you have to DL the "Final Video.wmv" to the hard disk, 1st. With the other one, it cuts the movies directly from you dvd drive. What you get is these files:

    PPmk2_00 intro.wmv
    PPmk2_01 Mach3 Setup intro.wmv
    PPmk2_02 Getting Familiar with Mach3.wmv
PPmk2_03 Testing Steppers and Driver Board.wmv
    PPmk2_04 Mach3 Configuration.wmv
PPmk2_05 Component Preparation (clean rollers & wrap with grip tape).wmv
    PPmk2_06 Pressure Roller Final Assy.wmv
    PPmk2_07 Drive Roller Assy.wmv
    PPmk2_08 Y&Z Gantry Assy.wmv
    PPmk2_09 Drawer for Stand Assy.wmv
    PPmk2_10 Stand Assy.wmv
    PPmk2_11 Cabinet Assy.wmv
PPmk2_12 misc final Assy (fence, etc).wmv

    Thanks KwoK

    That worked great

I was trying to do the same by putting the whole file into adobe Premere but it wouldn't go

I think I can now that it's cut up. I want to make it into a DVD so i can watch it on my portable DVD player.

    Cheers

When it comes to computers I have,,, well,,( special needs) When I download this where do I put it ? When I watch the tutorial DVD will it automatically break it down into chapters ? Do I open this then insert the DVD ? Thank you for doing this. When I watched the DVD, Windows Media Player kept crashing after about a half hour, and I had to keep finding the spot where I left off.

Thank you Kwok, it works perfect!!! This is going to make the build so much easier as I plan on building things out of order :geek:

foamlvr..... What you want to do is take Kwoks zipped folder and when you open it on the left you want to extract all files... This will make an open folder so you can drag your saved Final video.wmv( from Hard Drive) into this folder and then when it is done loading, I clicked on the DL from HD batch file.... Hope this helps as I am not a computer genius myself :)

Glad this helped you guys out. Isn't this what computers are for, to do the work for us. :p

    foamlvr,
Yea, what xtreme said. First, it only works for the windows os. I use winxp.

Second, if you got at least 10 gigs on you HD. Then copy the movie "Final Video.wmv" to your HD, preferably to it's own folder. Put my files in the same folder. And double click "Cut up the PP movie (DL movie here, 1st).bat". That's all there is, to it. You will see a dos command window open up and nothing else to do but, watch the progress.

If you don't want to DL the movie to your HD. Then double click "Cut up the PP movie (direct from dvd drive).bat" and follow the on screen instructions.

I'm starting my MK2 build and I noticed I should really split the last movie "PPmk2_12 misc final Assy (fence, etc).wmv" into 2 movies. Since the fence is not critical and I really wanted the lid as a separate movie. By the way, you guys can edit the batch file in any text editor to cut up the movies any way you want. Or right click the .bat file and click edit. You just need to substitute the source and new movie names and the times. It's just a short cut so you don't have to type the command perfectly in a dos (command) window. Here is the additional batch file, if you guys want to do it too:

They are supplied on a DVD (9 hrs worth), when you buy the PP MK2. That's the only way to get them. A few months ago there were ustream video of the live build of the PP MK2 prototype, but it looks like they are gone. But there may still be some videos there, that may interest you. You can check here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/Phlat-Lab

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Ordered a MK I (I'm only doing balsa, not large foam sheets) but am really interested in the dust handling improvements in MK II.

There's not that much to the dust handling improvements. The MK2 has a stand; so there is just a dust pan below, that you can empty. Like a bird cage. :p You should have a look at Randy's MK1 dust vacuum mod: viewtopic.php?f=107&t=145&start=250#p6309
