With a name like that, I am sure you guys are thinking of some screaming fast, sexy little number...and I am gonna disappoint you.

I love to night fly...and I was lamenting the fact that I don't have a "true" night flyer anymore...you know, a built up model with lights inside it. Yea, I have some planes with LEDs on them, and EL light strips and that sort of thing, but I was yearning for something that reminded me of my first night flyer, which was a Sig Kadet MKII that was slightly kit bashed, and filled with grain of wheat lamps...(this was YEARS ago..LEDs were not bright enough, and would have cost more the the plane.)

So anyway, I sat down and drew this up while I was on a Skype call with "Crash" today.

I drew it up for use with the Single wing "PhlatFoil" design that Gefahren drew http://www.phlatforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1021

Now..this is my first attempt at a full fuse, so be kind. I know there are allot of things that could be done to improve it, such as adding build tabs. As you will see, I am not the best at assembling a 3D model, either. What I did is line the parts up so you could see how I envision them fitting together.

I haven't cut it yet, but intend to shortly. You will notice that this model has been "Ghosted" in certain area's, and will require covering. I did this to allow plenty of light to pass thru. (Well, that and I just wanted to!) It kinda reminds me of the open structure of a Kadet or other early trainer design.

The windshield would have to be cut and formed from some sort of clear or translucent plastic...that's why I didn't draw one. Like I said, I know there are other things that will need to be done as well, but I really wanted to share something with my Phlat Family, and figured this might be of some interest to someone...

All comments and criticism greatly appreciated!

Glad to see someone doing something with the Singlewing design, since I'm apparently very slow about it myself. I'll have to download the skp file and check it out!

    Nice Tim!
This is cool that you are using the universal wing design as well. Community effort at its finest.
Looking forward to the results, great job so far

The universal wing lent itself perfectly to something like this...I just need to cut the blackout and see how it looks together, then cut the wing for it. my Gut is telling me that I might want more rudder/elevator area (since I never feel like you can have to much) but common sense says what I drew should be plenty for this bird. With the addition of some ailerons, this hopefully will make a good lazy sport flyer, which, suitably overpowered, will be quite fun for some night-time antics.

I gotta admit, it feels pretty good to see that 3 people have downloaded it so far!!

Very nice work, Tim! I see all kinds of possibilities for lighting this plane up! This one also looks like a great candidate for FPV also!

Thanks, Crash! I hadn't thought about FPV, but you know....It would work well for that...now you have me thinking...a small change to the cabin area...Hmmm....I need to get out my camera and transmitter and do some measuring and drawing!

OOH....FPV at night....Forward facing camera, looking at the stars...might make for some neat video. Of course, you wouldn't want to fly by the camera, but it would make for neat viewing for your buddies on the ground...
