I got my MKII up and running and it was time to get something in the air. I took two posts from the forum the Shoestring by Jnida63 and the Skeeter by Flash Solutions and scaled them to 24". The tabs and slots were changed to fit 1/4" FFF. The wing spar was slotted for 2mm square CF tube that I had. Both models fit on one sheet. I am using a 1/16" bit.

Both of the airplanes fly great. Both track very cleanly and there is no flex in high G situations. I am flying the Skeeter and my dad is flying the Shoestring. Both are very close in weight and have the same exact power systems so the speeds are very close. They are not super fast but they move at a decent clip. They have a tendency to climb at full power. Due to this I revised the drawings to include 2 degrees of down thrust on both models. I have not tried the new design yet. I figured we would wear the first two out first. After a few good flights our flying pattern quickly turned to aggressive combat. Now after a few good mid air's I can also say that these models take a beating like a champ. And all for around a dollar a piece minus electronics. How cool is that? Attached files Racers.zip (289.8 KB)Â

These planes sound sweet, could you post a few photos of your finished planes?

The Skeeter was designed by Don Baisden, a member of Southern Eagle Squadron in Lady Lake, Florida.

It was designed as a pylon racer.

A little too small and fast for my tastes, but a lot of the fellows seem to like it. Better for you younger folks

My reflexes are not what they used to be.

Always good to see someone improve on a design. The additional downthrust could be a big improvement.

Be sure to let us know how the new one flies.
