    One of the things that is being worked on right now in 3D lithography is bone replacement.
    Can you imagine a hip replacement that is genetically identical to your own skeletal bone. :cool: :cool: :cool:

    The same bone as it was before disease or fracture ruined it. Makes you think. :think: :twitch:
    From what I've been told, this will most likely be approved by the FDA before organs.

    I'm all for the advancement of science and the obvious benefit these kinds of break throughs will be for those in the greatest of need. However, I would be more than willing to wager a large sum on the bet that far too many will stand in the way of these kinds of medical advancements. The ethical debate of human tissue cloning and the various religious view points always grabs the attention of some upwardly mobile political idiot who manages to side track these modern marvels. (Now stepping down from my imaginary soapbox)

    This debate reminds me of the parable of when the scribes and Pharisees(important religious people) were watching Jesus closely to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath (which was against their religious laws), they watched him in order to find a way of accusing him of doing something wrong. Jesus asked them "Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?" Then Jesus healed him.
    They were furious and began to discuss with each other what they could do to Jesus!
    Growing organs from someones own cells I believe is a good thing :good: This does good to save a life without destroying another.
    Cloning embryos to harvest organs I know is a bad thing. There will always be those who are willing to throw out what is good or right, to reap the (material) benefits of what is wrong.
    I used this parable as an example of the point I was trying to make here, not to start a religious debate :)

    There are a lot of supposed medical miracles, but this is truely mind blowing, usually a burn victim would suffer massive pain an often major infection for months and this seems to deliver a full recovery in a matter of days. I always shrugged off the fact that the skin is the largest organ in the body, this can repair all of it.

    I saw on 60 minutes some months back about this technology. The military is the biggest funder for this. Growing lost limbs and muscles from tussue and organs grown in 3D molds. The podcast is on ITunes. Very interesting.

    I saw a story about this procedure last week. Very interesting. Basically. using a product common in household cleaners, the cells that infill an organ can be washed away. A framework is left that new cells can then be layed on to. With an appled current, the organ comes back to life. Lungs breath, hearts beat...
