How about an airboat? Simple enough to design, simpler to build... LOTS OF FUN!!! They're great little things, and they can go just about anywhere. It'd be interesting to see a WIG too...

Wolfikus, do you mean an airboat like this? [IMG]
    Or a WIG like this?
They both look like pretty cool ideas, to me! Do you have any designed?
I haven't seen either type here (yet). ;)

I am close on the air/swamp boat Idea. Need to test still.
Wanted to use up a brushed motor I have laying around.

    Cheers

I live on a canal, with real alligators in it. Love to have an airboat to tease them. Hurry up guys.... My Phlatprinter is idle right now.

    Nice stuff here guys
Flash you have to get video of your boast chasing the gators around :)
Wolfikus, your wig design is cool!
Would you mind if we set it up to be Phlatprinted? I think it would be a cool experimental craft.

Also, for this one, I made plans. It fits on a 22X46 inch rectangle. However, I don't really know how to do that tab thing, or if it would even be beneficial in this design. So, this would go together and work - almost for sure - really easily, even without tabs. I plan to build this one as soon as I get the time and motivation! Going camping by a river over memorial day weekend... hmmmm... ;)

p.s. - Great job on the MKII! I wish I had the money to buy one, or even the original phlat printer. They're both exquisite machines, if they do what is shown in the vids! Time for me to get a job...

    Thank you :)
I really want to build the first one you posted I think it looks sharp and I am guessing that it will have that WIG ground effect on water?
As for having your own Phlatprinter, I am sure if you take your time and save you will have one in no time :)

Yes, it would definitely work on water, but if you wanted to use it on water, the hull would probably have to extend from the leading edge of the wing all the way through to the back so that it could float, and the wings could break the surface tension of the water. If it was put on water as designed right now, it would NOT WORK. The surface tension of the water would keep the wings glued down, and since the air from the prop is not passing under the wings to create an initial cushion the craft would stay surface bound. The best place to test AS IS DESIGNED would be a gymnasium, relatively flat field, a track, the street... etc. Basically, a long, flat, SOLID surface.

Thanks for the complements! I worked for a VERY long time taking that from a three view to sketchup, then modding so that it would be plausible for R/C.
