I like the idea of photo-realistic rendering but at US$900 for the two programs I think I'll pass for now, especially since I didn't see that it makes anything different than SU.

Mark, what did you use to render the Radial Engine? I've tried the program you had suggested above and it crashes all the time. There is a comment on that site by a guy who has the same exact problem as I do.

Kerkythea crashes every time for me too. Cannot open a new file or even one from their installed library.

Kerkythea is great, I've used it for a couple years now. I rendered this Kestrel from Sketchup with it.

I have been trying several different programs out there,
I like this one called light up
    http://www.light-up.co.uk/
Try out the demo see what you think
There is another one called hyper shot but its way to expensive at 700 bucks
Here is another that looks good http://www.renderplus.com/htm/render_plus.htm
The problem is that none of the are really easy, but I am keeping my eyes open for one that will be.

Then maybe it is the newest version that crashes. I don't know what version I had but I think the last time they updated it was almost two years ago.

Yoram, I just recently had to re-install everything on my box so I will check out the newest version and see what it does.

Mark, that Light Up looks pretty cool.

I am using XP Pro Service Pack 3 with all of the latest Microsoft updates.

I was, about a year ago, using XP Home with no problems. I also use graphic acceleration cards in all my computers with at least 256mb of ram. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but that is my setup.
