I have been attempting to work a bit with sketchup and I have built a box. Yes, simply a box. But I am quite proud of the box. Before I scrap 3.00$ worth of foam testing this, I was just wondering if someone would check my work and make sure that I did this right.

Cheryl's box 2 will work fine but the first file has some issues and I'm not sure how you managed to do what you did.

Also you could of had those both in one file.

I'm in the process of showing you what is not right, then I will post it.

There are some problems with the first one for sure. I'll go fix it and come back and try to explain. I can do the drawing and design but can barely e-mail. Like Arnold said ''All be bock''

I didn't want to fix it for you as I think this will be a good start for you to learn.
The big box part needs the phlat edges deleted. After that is done it will show that there are a lot of broken lines. Those lines need to be fixed and then redo the outside cut line and tabs.

On the other smaller part, I don't know how you managed to get it like that, lol, but you will need to erase the phlat edges on it too. After you do that it's going to need the top line redrawn.
Then apply the cut line and tabs.

As far as being able to have both files in one you can use the safe area tool to place in different spots on the page, then just put your parts in it to create gcode. The gcode will only be created from what is inside of the safe area box.

Let us know how you do with this.

    3DMON,

I have reworked the big box and basically just copied the good small box and replaced the jacked up one. I also put the 2nd file pieces back into the original file. Attached files The Box Project.skp (323.5 KB)Â

The big piece looks good but don't forget to add tabs to it. The only thing left is the lower right hand part. I would suggest erasing the phlat edges on that part and redoing them.

I tested the G-Code on Mach 3 and all looked good, but when I cut it, the glue tabs that I so dilligently worked on to be sure they were exact, were not. Back to the drawing board.

That was the one thing I didn't check to see if you had right lol. I was mainly concerned if you had the cut lines right.

If you want, after you get it fixed post it again and I'll look it over again for ya.

I do it this way. I make the parts without the tabs. I group each part individually. I than put them together with their edges touching. I double click on a part and make the tabs on it. I than double click on the adjacent part and make the opposing tabs using the first ones as a guide. The tabs come out perfectly fitting every time and since the parts were grouped I can separate them with no problem.
