Sorry guys, I just can't resist. Gonna be on hold until I at least decide on a size. :D
    What's left:
    Scale to size.
    Section wing appropriately
    Unfold
    Adjust formers
    Layout
    Tab
    Cut

    Tv, that looks amazing!
I'm looking for a nice full fus 3d model for the summer. I think this might be it!
If you haven't decided on a size yet then I think a 48"ws would be nice to power with a 3S2100 size lipo.

    Very nice work as usual,
    Si.

Yeah the 48" WS is a good size. That would be perfect for the 2100 packs for sure. It should come out lighter than the balsa one in that size.

TV, most of the time I scale the drawings posted here to suit my taste. It will be just fine by me if you post it anyway you have it.

    TV, you're FAST!!! LOL

After seeing TV's work first-hand, I kinda challenged him to work his magic for my favoritest plane - the 260. I really am surprised that you've got something together so quick!

I agree about the 48" size. I think that would be a great size for the 3s 2100's that I have a bunch of packs of for my helis.

You Northern guys take your flying breaks in the winter when you have the snow to contend with. In my neck of the woods, we take our break (me, anyway) in July and August when the temps are 100 to 110 degrees. That's when I would expect to take on the build of this bad boy!

Eric, I'm posting my cell in case you wanna talk. As well, any of the rest of you guys can keep it for reference - I love talking RC and CNC with anyone that wants to and all you Phlatheads are the greatest! lol

Tell ya what, I'll post both.
Right now, it needs a slight modification to the wing (trailing edge). But you can't do that until you know what scale to build it. 48" also sounds good to me, next time I've got a bit more time in front of the PC I'll get both up!

Oh yeah, WELCOME HOME everyone! I've been here for a few days now, but I'm glad everyone else arrived safely as well.

Man, that is so nice! I have wanted to build an Extra for quite a while. Even got the perfect motor and landing gear for it. Great work!

    Alright enough stalling...
Been looking at pictures of Extra's on-line, I'm having a real hard time coming up with real shots (usable shots) of the 260. Found great solid data on the 300 however, look slike my original 3-view was a bit off. That's OK because it's mainly in the wing placement and that's easy to fix at this point. I think part of the problem is, is that this is a highly customizable aircraft, and it's difficult to find two alike.

Download the detailed spec sheet here: http://www.extraaircraft.com/ea300.asp , and Extra will give a 3-view themselves for you to reference...

Ok, I decided I did not want the large canopy version, and I can't make up my mind on mid wing or low wing design. -Extra offers both. I will likely choose the low wing, as it is the most recent design from them, the 300L. All the parts are there, except the formers (which I finalize as the very last step), and the model is ready to be unfolded. I will get to that tomorrow, hopefully.

Until I get to that here is a screen shot of the two versions, and the skp file if you wanna mess with it.

    So what's left now?
    -Unfold (ready to go!)
    -Finalize formers -DONE!
    -Tab
    -Print
    -Build
    -Carve pink foam canopy REVISED!!
-Instead use slicer plugin to make canopy from model! -READY TO GO!
    -Vacuum form canopy!
    -Mount hardware
    -Fly!
    -(maybe crash??)
    -Then Repeat!

So as luck would have it I did a mem test on my SU PC last night, and found all kinds of errors! It was so bad last night when I turned in I was experiancing all kinds of lockups, I almost lost changes about 3 times. So I pulled some of the chips today and ran the test again, passed! Lucky draw I guess, I have to send those baddy out, but this got in the way of me unfolding the model.

That's exactly why I did both, low and mid wing, it's easy to get from here to the point where you are printing. Also, if one wanted the wing slots could be omitted in the design, allowing the end user to mount the wing as he or she sees fit -but, I think that's the hardest part of putting one of these together, so I'll just cut the slots in both.

tvcasualty, you might find that by simply re-seating those chips, they will work just fine.
A computer repair dude once told me that's how they fix 90% of all the computers brought to them for repair - they simply pull every plug, chip and socket and re-seat everything.
    That'll be $40, please. :)

:D Lol it's worth a try I guess! I feel I'm way ahead anyhow as I've never been able to actually pin-point a memory problem. Bust sure enough the test worked fine after I pulled the chips. The plan is to plug one back in and see it I can get by w/ 3 out of 4.

Check the manual on your MB - some of them need chips inserted in pairs. Also, un-seat and re-seat the ones you have remaining, before installing others.
