Hey guys. Just wanted to post the hexacopter project I just finished. The specs are below and I am happily cutting G10 FR4 parts out as needed. I am using a 0.063 chip breaker bit and a 5 ipm feed rate and a 10 ipm plunge rate. It seems to work just fine at those speeds with the stock drill unit.

If anyone wants more details or is interested in the somewhat rough files I will post them.

    Hexacopter Specs.

    Frame: 0.063" Garolite-G10/FR4 cut on Phlatprinter3
    Booms: 16mm OD aluminum
Boom Blocks: quadframe.us 16mm boom blocks
Flight Control: ArduPilotMega 2.0 Board & Case
    Software: Arducopter 2.7.1
    External GPS: uBlox LEA-6
Sonar: MB1200 XL-MaxSonar-EZ0 Ultrasonic Range Finder
APM Telemetry: 3DR Radio Telemetry Kit - 433 MHz
    Motors: 6x Tiger MT-2216 900kV
ESC: 6x eRC "Rapid Drive" 25A Brushless ESC
    Battery: 3s-5000mAh
    TX: Flysky 9x w/ ER9X firmware with Frsky DJT Module & FLD-02
RX: Frsky D4R-II RX using CPPM

Weight with battery, no camera = approx 1.7 kg

That's pretty darned slick. In the last pic, I'm assuming you have something in the structure to keep the tubes from rotating?

Thanks. Each 16mm arm tube is clamped by two boom block pairs inside the central frame. When the boom blocks are tightened the tubes don't rotate unless they see a fairly large load (in a crash for instance). It acts as a mechanical fuse to dissipate energy without breaking something.

Your hex is one up on awesome! awesome++

How do you like the Tiger motor setup? I'm looking to purchase a new set for my TBS Disco frame and haven't decided on a specific model/brand. I've been using RCTimer 1000KVs but they are hit/miss when it comes to quality/balancing.

Thanks TT. I've liked the Tiger MT motors thus far. They come will long leads which is nice when you want to route them back to the center of the frame through the arms. They run very smooth. The only thing I dislike about them at this point is the price. $50 each is painful when multiplied times six but I found with my first quad build that balance is everything with the props and motor rotor housings. I've seen some good things about sunnysky motors as well and they are more reasonably priced (approx $25 each or so).
