Making it all one piece

    See all the lines in the pic below? Instead of manually clicking each one I dont want and pressing the delete key to remove it, is there a way to automatically remove/merge them and just leave the edges?

    those lines make the faces you need for a solid surface, you may be able to delete some but most will have to stay

    I would select the part then click window and click smooth edges. From there fine tune it so that it does not change the part geometry but evens out the faces. Then you will have a nice part for exporting to STL if that is what you are doing. If you want to check your part for errors after the export, you can push it to the netfab cloud here: http://cloud.netfabb.com/

    Looks like you have imported a STL file. As I have this issue too. There is nothing you can do as far as I have found, except what Mark has said. I find that If i want to edit it I have to delete all the extra lines.
