    Hi guyz,

I am new to this forum and I was considering buying one of the MK III, as I want to start making molds but need to make some accurate plugs.
So I plan on making the plugs from plywood and foam.
But I'd like to know the max thickness I can use in the Phlatprinter, and I assume I'll have to make multiple passes.

BTW do you make it in 220v version and what'll be the price for shipping in europe ?

    Tnx & rgds
    Jay

    Hello, Jay!

From what I've been able to tell, the maximum thickness of material that can be run through the new PhlatPrinter 3 is about 2".

The depth that you'll be able to cut into that 2" is, of course, dependent upon the length of the bit that you choose to carve with.

I hope this answers your question. :D

Jay, welcome to the forum. Don't hesitate to become a PhlatHead. :D :D

What Mike said is true, you can cut up-to 2" but you can have a finished plug higher than that by layering it. We talked about it before here in the forum. You may find it if you'll search. We do it, mainly, in SU.

I think in the past, the guys in europe had to supply their own rotary tool? The switching power supply is probably universal, so should be ok. You'll have to contact Mark & Trish, to get the real info. They're pretty busy, right now, so you might not get an immediate response.

    2" ??????

Thats's way cool, more than I expected !

I had a look around and did not find anything related to thick materials nor mold making.

And I am used to Sketch'up as I was desinging my aquarium with it's plumbing and light fixtures.
Now I have to go on a more acurate scale for the PhlatPrinter.

I was more thinking of working on a piece of MDF with very little depth to work on and a lot (too many ?) passes.

    Tnx & Rgds
    Jay.

Jay, check out this 3d carving, Mark did this morning: viewtopic.php?f=148&t=2329
Unless Mark changed the dimensions, it should be 1" thick.
