So that's what Lite Machines is up to now... I heard they had gone military. I had one of their Helis when they first came out. Great engineering, and I still liked their mechanical gyro better than any pizo that I've used since.

Do you have any links to the mechanical gyro they had? I would like to see what it was all about
    Thanks

Gyro assembly starts on page 50

Page 70 start the explanation of the mechanical gyro

A lot of guys didn't "trust" the mechanical gyro for some odd reason, and converted to a pizo one. My flyign buddy did this with his and mine had much better tail control, and still was solid in the hover. By the nature of the design there was some slop in the controls so you were never going to get a rock solid hover, so matter the gyro. Some guys were even putting in >$200 pizos in their <$200 heli. And on top of that they were using a standard HS81 metal gear servo which is a good servo, but by no means does it have any precision.

That was for the original 110 gas heli. When I switched over to electric for my planes, I decided to try their electric heli. It didn't use the mechanical gyro, but a pizo. I didn't like it at all. I didn't have the control of the tail rotor I had with the mechanical one, and it didn't steady the tail any better.
