    Phlat3D Download

(extract the zip file contents to your Sketchup plugins folder)
Usage: Set up your parameters in the Phlatscript window (material size, bit size, etc.) it will use these entries for the output gcode. Place your model in the safe cutting area making sure the model is not below the ground plane and no thicker then the material thickness set in the Phlatscript parameters window. Once the model is ready, go to the plugins menu and click on the Phlatplugins and choose the Phlat3D this will bring up a window asking for the step over amount (this is how far the bit will step over for each pass) the default is 30% for a good looking carving.
Thanks go out to Jovian and Kwok for making this possible! You guys are the greatest! Thank you!

You can download the latest release here

Phlat3D is a 3D add on for the Phlatscript/SketchUcam program.
It will allow you to create 3D relief carving machine code right from Sketchup to use with your Phlatprinter machines.
This script is an open source volunteer effort put forth by our friend Jovian here on the Phlatforum with the help of our friend Kwok they are working to incorporate it into the Phlatscript for ease of use.
I made a short video to show you a quick carving attempted tonight in MDF on the Phlatprinter 3! :D
This is a huge step forward for the CNC community!
The code is still a little rough but the Phlatprinter 3 in combination with the USB CNC board/software did not miss a step and went right back to its starting point!
We hope to have a version out soon so that we can all experiment and try it out. We want to make sure its producing stable enough code to release it and it looks like these boyz are well on their way to making that happen! :)
Great job guys we are all anxiously looking forward to this one!
    Enjoy the video
    Mark and Trish

This is going to be a big winner.

A few months about someone dropped into the CNCzone forum and ask if there would be an interest in this type of plug in for sketchup. A few people replied yes and they would be willing to pay $100-$200 for it.

Not sure if he ever followed up with it but if so he may have a hard time selling it now.

    certainly doable.
    Edit
Martin if you have a skp file (SU7) please I have su8 but but su8 has bugs that may prevent the gcode being generated right. I will try to generate a cnc file for you :)

SU8 can re-save the files in previous version formats. It's in the pull down menu, when you go to save the file.

the file cut mirror image. then i cut the file with the z axis reversed
I cut in black depron so it dont show too well but we have mating parts.

Im tickeled about it  Attached files [IMG]

I have been hard at work trying to fix some of those rough edges that the cuts Mark has shown have. I think I have got it. below is the cnc file and a screen shot of the gcode. I would run it myself but as of yet I have no phlatprinter :( But number 30 will be on its way soon :) If anyone would like to run the the cnc that mark posted and this one please do. I am curious on differences in:
    smoothness Obviously)
    Dimensions like diameters and depth
Speed of output. Attached files quarter inch wood test carve6.cnc (139.2 KB)Â [IMG]

Ok guyz here is the penny carve from the show :) This was a lot of fun to try and came out perfect! It looks like it won't be long now before we have a fully integrated Phlat3D into the Phlatscript :D Its going to be awesome for sure.
Thanks Jovian and Kwok for all your efforts to make this happen

ewo asked that I upload the 1/16" version so here you go
He also informed me that since the file is setup with the zero being the bottom of the part
you have to start with the bit all the way to the bottom of the foam unless you have a way in Mach software to shift the tool path -.625 (5/8" material thickness) like you can in the CNC USB software. If you can then you can start with the bit at the top of the material like we are used to.

Just type .625 and enter in the Z axis. This is how to trick it in Mach.

Here is an overlay, if you want to see how accurate the gcode is. I exported the gcode to dxf, using the USB Controller software. And imported it back into sketchup. dxf always imports way large, for some reason. So, I always have to scale it back down.

COOL!!! Well now with my MK ordered and with this plugin on it's way too, I can't wait to have a go at cutting out this P-47 park flyer that I had been working on.. I was going to look at cutting out both sides then add in the bits later..

Wanted to see if it would be possible to make a simple two part mold using the Phlat3D plugin and I have to tell you it turned out great! :D We cast the parts using plaster of Paris using a little dye to color the mixture.
Next we need to get some of this http://www.smooth-on.com/index.php?cPath=1156 and give it a try! :)
These 3D carvings can be cut on the all version of the Phlatprinters without any worries of reversing the cut directions so give it a try. I am using 5/8 foam but you could use a thicker foam if that is all you have. You would need to cut the two mold haves from the thicker foam but it will work the same.
If you guys make these please post pics and let us see how they turned out please :)
    Thanks
