It's going on the back burner for a while unless there is an interest. My labor force made the tennis team so the shop is quiet. Thought I'd post what I have so far and a little history about a great flyer.
    ----------------------------
Here's a neat little bang around plane that should add a little old school kinetics back into a foamy plane's flight. It's a slightly up scaled model of a design Lee and I used to kit in the late 80's. It should like a little heaver pack and any hot 380. A 20-20 is max IMO

The original QTK was a model designed around the little 1/2A flat bottom trainer from the 80's called a Q-Tee (Cutie). It was a popular model and in my area it became the local 1/2A club racer favorite. After wiping out a handful it was time to play with the airfoil a little (7.25%). That in turn moved the wing from a parasol to a shoulder wing. The wing tips were a stroke of luck and that design mod gave the new ship an axial roll capability like it was on a string, that alone won many a bet. All on rudder/elevator :D

The QTK flew a full size pack and battery with an AUW of 16 oz. So an EP version could be half that. I could and did thermal the original in good lift no problem. The foam version should do about the same. The wing TE drag will even out the weight savings so a thermal machine it is not. But floating a long approach will be there :p

This is the only picture I have left. The QTK (Q-Tee Killer) may look tiny but the glider in the background has a 14''' chord and a 15' span. If you were into that 1/2A scene and in this area at that time, you will remember this plane. It lived a long life  Typ. specs. on a stock TD about 55-60 mph was easy level flight. With a racing TD it was faster that any Q200 because of the thin airfoil. It held its speed well through the turns and could bank and yank true enough to be flown it a tight pack. The cool thing is I have one kit left, now I'm wound up to build it EP style. (Do they still make Monokote? )

    Notes:
Dihedral is 4-5° or 1.25''-1.5 inch from end of wing chord to table

Wing tip dihedral is 15° (use cut template) add 1/16''-1/8'' washout in the tip plate only.
Sanding will be required for flush fit of top sheet.

Filler foam required on LE and TE to smooth contour

Use thinned epoxy and lite fiber cloth on wing and tail LE's

Add 1/4''x1'' TE stock for a real nice glide.

The performance airfoil has a much wider speed range than the flat bottom.
Great for club racing and general RET sport flying. You
may have noticed it looks like a Drela, as did the original
QTK airfoil. Add some TE stock and your edging on a
warmliner. Be sure to CF or glass the empanage LE if
you go that route. Attached files [IMG] pic workup.zip (988.8 KB)Â [IMG]
