Found an article about the benefits of a single blade helicopter and thought it was interesting :)

Here is a cool video of Mr.Dave Herberts (Night flyyer) show some examples and explaining it in a little more detail the single bladed helicopter concept. Enjoy

Pretty cool idea! Wonder if it has ever been attempted in full scale?

Neat stuff. The control one speed guys have been using single bladed props for years... the helicopter seemed like the logical progression....

Now I wonder if they'll call the "old style" 2 bladed helicopters Bi-copters :D

Not sure about the full scale version Chris. I do remember in the mag Popular Science, In the back they have 'those ads' with things like plans to build your own hover craft and what not, and I seem to remember a build it yourself plan-set for a ram jet gyrocopter that only had one blade to. Maybe it was just a dream :D

:D your probably right about that Dave

A full sized powered glider used a single bladed prop (plane, not heli). The smaller prop (by about half the length) could fold up in a smaller area for normal gliding after the motor got the plane to altitude.
