I've imported the lasercut bulkhead dxf files into sketchup and cleans up all the breaks, which is how they do the tabs for laser cutting. Also, a video of tips on how I have the sketchup drawing setup. -Kwok

You can get the text tag plugin at the Ruby Depot. But I will upload it here to save people time:
There are lots of pictures in that blog link, posted above. It all loads, on a really long page, so there is no searching. Here is some pictures from there. The sides are just a single sheet. The bottom looks pretty flat, but looks like most people plank the bottom lengthwise. And the creative one, that did diagonal planks. Oh, don't forget there are the partial bulkheads, you see them in the pictures. They are labeled like 3.5, 4.5,.. etc to show where the belong.

Also, here is the page with the dxf plans, I used. The planking is supposed to be 1/16" thick.

Nice plugin! Plus more ideas for boats! I love it!

I seem never to have enough time for it all though.

I expect this summer I will probably do a lot more with boats so this will be a good reference.

Right now its indoor activities and micro sized planes that have my attention, but that will change once the weather warms up.

Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cyber-Boat/ for a slide show of what were intended to be full sized boats. Click on the slide show and drag it off the page to capture individual images that show how the 45 degree diagonal framing and planking is arranged. Per called this honey comb construction but it is really more like an old fashioned egg carton. Don't try to join this Yahoo group because Per jumped ship a while back and applications to join will never be approved.

I'm already a member. But it looks like they do have new members, as recent as Feb 22, 2010 (5 this month actually, 14 in January). So join away! I normally, only join and visit these places just once. Yahoo Groups is really hard to view stuff and slow; and the messages hard to surf, kind of an ancient web entity.

I tried to join a while back, but bailed after waiting several days for approval that never came- off now to give it another try because the designs could be tested using cardboard and Elmer's glue.
