Don Baisden has provided yet another plane design for our AMA club. Named the Skeeter, it is a small pylon racer which we wanted to introduce to provide a way for folks to get into and practice pylon racing without a great deal of money being as the economic times are what they are.

We have club40 plyon racing with Skyraiders powered by .40 nitro engines and it is a lot of fun albeit nerve wracking when you have 4 planes competing for the same space doing 90mph.

The Skeeter will be an endeavor to give pilots a chance to learn how to a fly pylon course and prepare for moving up to the larger planes.

Motor and battery have not been picked as yet, but I believe we are going to shoot for something drawing 6 to 10 amps and a battery of at least 1000ma in order to ensure a 10 lap heat.

I started a forum on our club website, but so far most of these guys are not into forums like us. But you are welcome to join, and discuss your successes and ideas at http://southerneaglesquadron.com/phpBB3/index.php.

I am producing completed kits for $39 which include the carbon fiber, plywood firewall, 6mm Depron fuse, wing, stab, etc plus foam triangle stock. ABS landing gear as shown in the photo will likely be an additional $8 or $9 plus whatever shipping charges are incurred therefore I just ask that these kits not be produced for resale. You are free to make and use these for yourself or your AMA club in which case you may charge for the materials to cover your costs.

With that said, here are the sketchup files and a picture of my first build... Attached files SkeeterVTAB.skp (887 KB)Â [IMG]
