    Hi,
Here are some pics of the trailing knife vinyl cutter I made for my machine.
I sourced the cutter head and blades for ebay.
It is really easy to do. I just used a length of Al. tube with a Roland cutter head inserted into one end. There is an "O ring" at the other end to act as a stopper. A small weight is inserted into the top end of the tube to give the "correct' amount of downward pressure to the knife. The tube slides up and down in teflon bushings as shown. When not in use I just slip the "O ring" off and slide the tube out of the bushings.

To use , just set the Z height so that the cutter rests on the cutting surface with the weight applied by the small weight at the top of the tube. (a few millimeters of gap under the "O ring")

Works great, I have cut out many vinyl signs as per the one shown.
I use a mist of 77 adhesive on the back of the vinyl to hold it flat on the cutting bed.

    Enjoy!!

Nice job Bruceaust and it looks like it works great! :good:
How do you hold the vinyl sheets down to the work piece?

    Hi Mark,
I usually put a piece of clean MDF on the bed and spray a mist of 3M77 or similar glue just to give it a tack to hold it to the MDF

Bruceaust, you da man!!! That was fast! Just last night I asked you to post it and you came through in an instant. THANKS!!! :banger: :banger:

It is a simple solution and could be made for the PP 3 with no big mods and like you did the router could stay on the printer. Great solution.

Also, Instead of putting 77 on the sheet you are cutting if you spray the mdf with the glue, it becomes tacky enough to hold the sheets in place. There are probably other adhesives in the Art line of products that give a removeable bond. I just thought  you could use "frisk film" glued to the mdf!

You know looking at this makes me think. We could have an attachment that has the spindle in the center, a knife on one side and the sharpie on the other!

 Tweakie, now all we need is a self-contained small low cost laser diode system for the final attachment! :spiteful:

    Bruceaust,
What software are you using to control you CNC? Does it have drag knife comenstation for blade offset? Or you are using some type of work around?

    Thanks
