On German WWI biplanes they used a particular camouflage called lozenge.
I am attempting to make templates and cut out a foam template for painting this complex pattern.

This works out very well, as it can be scaled correctly inside sketchup.
My model has an oddball 40" wingspan makes it about 1/9 scale.
Therefor the 54" pattern gets scaled to ~6 inches.

Tricky part is getting this pattern to output to g-code now. I had to make several attempts to get it to go. Then I learned that it MUST be tabbed or you are going to have trouble when it comes to print...

This pattern is for my DVII, I decided it needs rebuilt, since my last retract project failed... again.
Destroyed the last DVII I had due to a magnet letting go in flight. But it flew very very well before that.

    Here are some early results.

This is all that was left of the original, but a lot of work went into the tail so I kept it.

Best reason to own a pp, this seriously took 5 min to put back on.

Pattern looks pretty good to me, there shouldn't be spaces in between some of the blocks, making them larger would work better so that there is overlap, I suggest making the inside cut to the outside of the pattern in su. Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

What a little fokker! This thing flys better then it looks! I'm going to have to get some video. This combo is 100% recipiency for success. The key to biplanes is a ton of weight in the nose and enough power to get it going with all that weight. I cruised around for about 5 min today, and brought her back in. I need to make some minor repairs to the LG after the prop slipped off, laugh it up randy... and I'll get her back out today and get some pics.

    lol :)
Looking forward to the pics all geared up and ready to go!
Looks great TV, glad to hear that it flys well even after a second cut. As you know you can cut two of the same planes out and get different in flight results. Its nice to get a pattern that you know will work every time you build it.

Oops, yes I should have said, the lozenge pattern is part of the DVII file.
The file is located over in the other thread. Right at the top.
Or just click this link: download/file.php?id=2272
