Hey Mark. Have you ever thought about producing a CNC hot wire kit?

Do you mean an add-on to the PP, to slice sheets out of a block of foam? If so, Mark is working on one.

Not an attachment to the phlat printer. A totally seperate unit that could cut wing cores(w/airfoils)etc.

Kwok is right we are in the process of working on a hot-wire attachment now. I have two designs in the works and I am trying to complete them. The idea is that you will be able to slice your own sheets from thick blocks of foam saving yourself money and creating perfectly flat sheets at whatever thickness you would like. I am still trying to determine if the second design is worth adding as a cnc to move the hot wire up and down along its own axis. As we reach completion we will be posting the results. Thank you for your interest.

Hi Jay. We have the attachment for the Phlatprinter 3 as a prototype version right now, just want to re design and retest it. It worked well on the first attempt and we were able to make skins at different thicknesses and even attempted an airfoil :) We will be working with this attachment more after the initial Phlatprinter 3s get out there.

ps. as for a 4 axis inexpensive hot wire, you know we will have one soon :D

That's cool, even a cheapo 4 axis hot wire cutter, or a wing cutter !
