Well, that's a good one for the books. At least now we know what happens if your controller cannot keep up with the PC. :ugeek:

HUmmm. don't think that's the problem with mine as my kernal speed is the default. Then again I'm running a jalopy of a PC (above the specs listed on MAch3 site though) so maybe this is the problem with mine too? PC not feeding the controller fast enough... buffer under run?

rcav8r, i just slapped in a 2.4ghz quad core, and i thought it would feed a faster kernel. what cpu you using?? they recomend at least a 1ghz min for mach-3

OK, so I'm not exactly to spec ;) Memory and Graphics card are OK. CPU is borderline though. I can't say I fully understand this as the Y and X are just fine and they are processing a lot more code, but I'm fine with this as a solution... If I zero the Z for every sheet I never notice it when cutting a sheet of foam, even with a lot of parts.

Glad to see that you found the problem Randy.
This is lesson we can all learn from, way to go everyone with all your good ideas and helpful insight, this was a tough one to solve.
I have experimented with selection different kernel speeds and read a little into it but everywhere they tell you that if you have a really fast system you could set it higher but also that there is little or no difference in performance so just to leave it at 25 the recommended setting.
On another token I have been testing the look ahead function of Mach to see if it helps to smooth out the cutting process at these faster speeds of the MKII.I thought that I would have to raise the kernal speed. I have set the look ahead to 200 lines without effecting the kernel and I run other apps in the background while I am cutting like Sketchup and IE. So this is good news and a good find thanks everyone and Randy for really digging into this good job :D
