I agree, you could defintly go less. With the sharpie attachment I'm using, depth is not a major thing. The pen just kinda floats on top of the foam. My only concern was in the case of fff, worrying about the waves in the foam, so I gave it a little extra travel. :)

Cool Craig, so because the sharpie just floats on the foam, percentage is almost irrelevant but its good to have stable pressure on the foam for indifference's!! :p

    Thanks

Thank you Kwok, for your three suggestions. I think I will go with your second option. I think that will work best. I'll try it in my next post, to see how it looks. I just hope it doesn't confuse anybody by changing the line color for the centerline cuts.

Again, thank you for your help. I really appreciate it! :D

Here is my version of the Harley-Davidson logo that Flashsolutions posted.

In the sketchup drawing, the centerline cuts are colored the corresponding pen color(per Kwok suggestions). I did also blunt the pens, so they would draw about a 1/16" line, so not to dent the foam with too sharp of a point. Enjoy! :fugly:

    P.S. I did run two coats of black. :D Attached files [IMG] Black.cnc (259.3 KB)Â Cut Out.cnc (8 KB)Â [IMG] Logo Final.skp (3.5 MB)Â Orange.cnc (138.9 KB)Â

The pocket tool plugin doesn't work well on these drawings, for some reason. I have been using another program to generate the pocket tool path. I hope someday, the pocket tool plugin will work on these drawings. But as much as I hate to, I have to use something else. Sorry Kwok. :nervous:

Well, I don't have any problem with it. :) Obvious you are kidding with us. I didn't actually write the pocket plugin. I did rewrite some of it, to fix a bug. But the reason is, it saids right in the header: "Limitations: Simple convex face only". So do tell, what program did you use to make those fancy pocket lines?

Have have been using 2d cut to generate the tool paths. I then opened the g code in the usb controller software, exported it as a dxf, then imported it in to Sketchup 7 to edited it and use the Phlatscript to generate the final code. :)

Nice work E-T! What did you use to pocket that? If you don't mind me asking.

Nice job Craig! You took more time with it than I did and it really came out nice.

For those asking... I used Cambam to create the pockets and cut paths, but I like the fact that Craig went the extra steps to bring it back into Sketchup for final processing.

John, since the maker rides on the rails you can set the depth pretty deep. It just uses the weight of the pen :good:

Guys if you could post your files in their own thread out side of this post that would be great and I could delete this post. This will make it easy for people to find the design they are looking for
    Thanks :)
