Weather service and water management services use a 10:1 ratio when calculating snowfall : rainfall. Sure, there's wet snow, dry snow, and 100 variations in between, but it works for a reasonable average when calculating. :geek:

Holly Toledo, that would have been 10' of snow in two days. Thank goodness was water and not snow. :D Now that would have been worth a picture or two. :D :D

Wow rcav8r! They were way off on your forecast. We haven't gone outside for the official count here. There is so much drifting it's going to be hard to tell. Our's looks a lot like your's though. The kidz must be loving it! Great pics.

Yea they typically are way off on the forecast....usually on the lower end. This is the 4th or 5th big storm the promised us this year, and we got nothing. So most people didn't believe them... Guess they never heard of the boy who cried wolf :)

My 10 year old son loves it. Can't keep him in the house. My 14 year old daughter views it as a major inconvenience. :)

So how much did you guys end up with?

Here's some pics from today. What a difference a day makes. Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

We got anywhere from 16 - 20 inches depending where you measure. There was so much wind and drifting it's hard to tell. We were in the 18 - 24 band so they weren't too far off (this time). They are now saying we are in for measurable snow fall Tuesday night into Wednesday and that it could be another storm much like this one  That would really be something. They won't make any predictions yet but we are anxious to to hear. They won't be able to make bread and milk fast enough for everyone

I didn't measure, but thought it was more that that 1st storm we had. Particularly, much more snow remaining in the road. Here's a shot out the front window. Interesting, icicles formations. -Kwok

Mark, What size motor would you mount to that? I think brushless would be best, as brushed motors often generate more heat.

Yeah and instead of calling it the flying icicle, you could name it the Grim reaper because it would surely impale whatever it came in contact with.

lol you guys are too much :D this thing was too cool not to take a picture of. The cool thing was looking at it up close you could see the layers of how it was formed.

When I was a kid in Palmdale (western edge of the Mojave desert) it would get well below freezing for many nights in a row. Our across-the-street neighbor would put his lawn sprinkler on the roof and turn it on, low.
In the morning, his house would be ringed in icicles, with a frozen waterfall on the top of his house, but it would be the only one! Very pretty!

Its nice to have cool imaginative people like that around you when you are a kid to spark ideas of your own.
That would be a great picture to see

That's a really good idea. I wonder where they were from.

Believe it or not, we are in for another storm tomorrow night. We have heard predictions of 6-18 inches. Not much of a commitment from the forecasters but no one here can believe it's going to snow AGAIN!

You guys east of me are getting hit with way more snow than here in Burlington WI, but here is what it looks like here, about 4 to 6" in the past 48 hours. I am hoping to get some skiing in this weekend!

Looks the same around here. And at least another foot for today. Just as long as I have electricity, I'm happy! :)

Thank God we still have power too! That would have been horrible.
When we woke up this morning a lot of the trees are bent over to the ground from the weight of the snow, and the awning over the front door has collapsed!
