Hey guys here is the first in a series or frames developed for platforms for your quad adventures on the Phlatprinter!
This is the first attempt. I made this QikQUAD in an attempt to try and develop a light-weight easy to build quad for the Phlatprinter.
There are two versions of this quad one is 1/8th ply the other is 1/16 garolite XX The canopy file fits both. The canopy is Phlatprinted from 2" thick foam. Then plaster of Paris used to make the forum used on the Phlatformer (vacuum former) with the clear PETG plastic .020
Check the SketchUP files or the Gcode files for bit and material sizes
Let me just state that these are totally experimental and the design is largely based on pictures of quads I have seen other people build and fly. The designs need work and were left as prototypes somewhere along the process during the design process.

    QikQUAD plans are up! :D
need to find a stronger material to make these out of, maybe G10?
    Enjoy

I had made this frame using 1/8" ply and found it to be heavy. Ended up using just 1/2" square wood. Almost 2.5oz lighter.

Yeah plywood is heavy with all the glue sandwiched between the layers.
I wonder what it would weigh from G10 or better yet carbon fiber! :banger:

I would caution on cutting Carbon fiber won the PP. The dust could get in your lungs and will be there forever.
I did alot of research on cutting it and found the risks just wasn't worth the reward.

This is true Jeff and thank you for the word of caution.
There is something that I have been wanting to test out. Crash and I were talking on day and he had mentioned about wanting to cut carbon fiber. So we were thinking of ways to keep the dust down or eliminate it completely. He came up with the idea of gluing a piece of foam to the bottom of a tray/pan as a sacrificial board and laying the carbon sheet on top. Filling the pan with enough water to cover the carbon sheet and making the cut underwater. i think it would work great this way, but has yet to be tested and the pan carrier would have to be designed as low profile as possible to ride under the pressure rollers. There would be a lot of testing to do but it may just work :)

How about sandwiching the carbon between two foam sheets? Two dollartree foams add only 8mm. With the vacuum shoe there should be minimal dust, if any.

Thats a good idea TP and its a much simpler solution. If it keeps the dust down it would be easy enough to try
