I put off a lot of things because i was having serious trouble finding appropriate boxes for shipping

    Then it hit me

Why cant i make my own boxes :?: . Im cutting everything else ? !!

This is a scaled down box i cut on the PP .
I picked up some Big ol boxes at lows . and will be cutting my own pakaging :p

Now i can ship what i cut ! Attached files [IMG]

    Way to go Bruce!
What bit did you choose for the job? I am getting a lot of fuzzy edges with the burr bit
This are going to be nice looking boxes.

I tried the 1/8" stock bit and it is really badly fuzzy
The 1/16" grout removal bit is better so im going with it

Here are a couple pictures of a finished box.
I think they will work just fine ;) Attached files [IMG] [IMG]

When I started to think about selling kits I realized that I would need to make boxes (with a box cutter) to custom fit each plane - what a hassle!. I never even thought to use the same machine I cut the planes out on to make the boxes, too! Great idea.

I didn't see your bit/feed rates posted in the sticky, would you please post them here?

Then you can view the data sheet to confirm it's there here

shipping boxes are a tough one. I like the idea of making my own boxes but when I considered the time, wear and tear on the machine it didn't seem worth the hassle.
For example, can buy a custom 36"X 10" X 3" boxes for $3.45. Not cheep, but worth it? Another alternative is to sandwich your kits between flat corrogated sheets, which would provide adequate protection.

I wonder how well the swivel exact-o blade attachment would work for something like this? :)
Sounds like a good PhlatLAB show :D

I'm thinking the cardboard may be a challenge for the blade. These boxes are by design tough to cut/tear. I know it usually takes me a few swipes of a good blade to cut one apart. HUmmm maybe multi-path it ;-)
